Team Rose is the only offending one where you have to play a mandatory fucking tutorial, you have to be some kind of beta bitch to pick team rose as your first playthrough, so it's most likely your third or fourth playthrough and you have this shitty tutorial, absolute gay.
<for shadow the hedgehog:
You replay the first level over and over to the point it's almost obnoxious, you have to follow the same path (you can try beating around certain paths to avoid bosses between levels) to reach the same ending for the second time, by the time you reached all 5 endings, you most likely seen all levels, so going for the 5 OTHER endings again is just so painful and you could argue that the levels are short but if you have to suffer more than 50% than you truly need to, that's just pure agony and absolute bullshit.

Again, I didn't really rate them for gameplay-only, I rated them for everything. Plot, design, etc. In terms of plot Shadow the Hedgehog happens to be the worst, especially when you get down to alternate endings. Gameplay-wise, Unleashed is my favorite actually, but autism points matter. I've never been too fond of the Adventure games either, nor any 3D Sonic for that matter, so picking a best was like picking the one I didn't hate the most. Colors and Generations both felt too "on-rails" for me to actually enjoy, they felt too scripted.
Character-wise, I absolutely despise Shadow, Rouge, Blaze, and Silver.

Did you follow sonic all this time? Personally i gave up after Heroes failed to impress, and a random issue of the comic i bought from the store turned sonic into a cuck begging the squirrel not to marry some french faggot. Adventure 1 is cool because of the Adventure Fields and the way the story is presented. As the title implies, the game adds adventure game elements. Adventure 2 removed all those elements, but in return it made the level design way better. Adventure 1 did a good job trying to translate the basic movement of the old Sonic games to 3D, but much of the level design left something to be desired. Good for a first attempt, but Adventure 2's level design kicked its ass.
Adventure 2 levels have more branching paths and shortcuts. The paths aren't just a matter of choosing, but of pulling off tricky maneuvers to reach the other tracks. But what really makes even better is the points and scoring system. If you want those A Ranks, you have to think about not just how to skip as much of the level as possible, but how to go through it to get the most points. Find all the little secrets, kill as many enemies as possible, while also going quickly, smoothly, and stylishly. And the levels are made to do this well. Even though you don't necessarily just take the quickest line from point A to B, if you're doing it right, you're still going fast all the time, even if you're going slightly out of your way to kill a bunch of enemies.
Then on top of this, the five missions on each level really make you think even more, as each one is actually pretty varied. It's the same five missions on each level, but they're all different enough from each other to change how you play. And you're encouraged to do these because there are lots of good unlockables spaced just right. Beat all of a character's missions to get a new costume for them, and get all A ranks with a character to get a new character.
If you can 100% the entire game, get a whole new level that is actually a faithful recreation of Green Hill Zone but in 3D. Any time anyone says Adventure Sonic doesn't play like the old games, I just tell them to look at this. It's literally the first level from the first game put in 3D, and it plays well. It's short compared to the levels in Adventure 2, but it takes almost the exact same amount of time to beat this version as it does the version in Sonic 1. Yet it still feels reasonably 3D and fits in decently will with this game. You can't do that with Modern Sonic because the gameplay is fundamentally different. While Adventure Sonic was actually trying to translate the old gameplay to 3D, Modern Sonic just catered to casuals who never really played the games but heard that Sonic GOTTA GO FAST, so it turned into a lame single player racing game where it's difficult to not go fast, rather than a platformer where you earn your speed by having quick reflexes and getting a good flow through the level.
People misunderstand Sonic Adventure 2. They don't get that the Story Mode is essentially a practice run. The real game begins when you go back for all the extra missions and A Ranks. That's where the real depth of the game is, and every Sonic game should do it, though few do. Some games like Unleashed and Forces have extra missions and a good amount of content, but I don't think the extra missions did as good a job at really varying how you play and taking advantage of the whole level as they did in SA2.
Get X Number of Rings
Find a well hidden item
Beat the level with a tight time limit
Beat a harder version of the level
You could put those challenges into any Sonic level and they would be fun. Even the Classic games would work with these. Same with Ranks. You could add those into any mission in any level and have it work. There's no reason not to. It just adds more depth to the level, as long as you set the right target scores. And if you're making a game from scratch with these goals in mind, you can build proper levels for them and make it all better.
Forces had time limit challenges, and Red Rings are like Chao, but the ring challenges would be fun, just they don't work in Modern Sonic where you get a thousand rings a level. Hard mode doesn't matter when you can just boost through every enemy.
Bring back SA2
Adventure Fields can come too.

Sonic Mania basically confirmed to me that Sonic Team needs to be removed completely. They tried to gimp the fuck out the game, yet it's still better than anything they've pulled from their ass in more than 20 years. Even the decent games like Rush or Advance was made by DIMPS.

I remember only having problems with the endless pits maybe 3 times, 4? Either way, they weren't that much of a trouble.
I played and beaten the first Rush game on my first playthrough, but with Rush Adventure I could never finish it. There was just something weird about it that I could never deal with.

Considering the amount of people who think that if a Sonic game doesn't force you to go fast, it's bad, then yes, a lot of people misunderstand it. Going fast should be a reward for good platforming. But too many people, largely Nintenyearolds who didn't play Sonic until it was on Game Boy, think that you should just be shot forward and if there are any parts where you're slow, it's the game's fault and it's bad.
