Where do I even begin with this game? The combat is busted, for one thing. If there had been some Devil May Cry style system to the combos, forcing you to add variance and style to get good combos, it could have been fun, but instead it's just based on the number of hits so the best solution is to just spam the air spin move forever. The Magic just makes matters even worse because the AI has no idea how to deal with it and just sort of dies, including the final boss.

The voice acting should not have been done. It's cringey in the extreme. Just remove that entirely. Thank god it's skippable.

The completely unnecessary, jarring, out-of-place, and sometimes cringey references to other games should never have even been thought of as a good idea, much less made it into the final product.

And of course the story. Ohhhhhh the story. Everything about it is trash, most of all the main villain who has no motivation other than "he's a racist asshole". The one good part about the story is the origins of the main character, but even that was mishandled. You started with an interesting idea: you have an elite warrior who, along with the BBEG's army, is ransacking a village. One of the villagers fights him, and gets in a lucky hit. They both die simultaneously, and are reborn as one soul. But it's such a small point in the story, and is fleshed out so little that it just feels shallow, incomplete, and unnecessary. I could think of a hundred different ways this exact same premise could have been done in a way that makes more sense and feels more complete and conducive to Dust as a character. But none of that happened and you're left with a shell of what could have been an intriguing character arc.

Don't buy this game. I do recommend looking up Fidget porn though, it's not too bad.

oh right, can't forget about the trash inventory system too. I hate it when games do the style of healing where you can just pause the game and scarf down 10 turkey legs whenever you feel like it to get all your health back, because it means that if you grind up enough health items, the game becomes trivially easy. I don't like it in Castlevenia games, and I don't like it in this game. The only game that I've played that's gotten away with it, IMO, is Aquaria, and that's because the combat wasn't the point of Aquaria, the exploration and discovery was. Plus some healing items had cool bonuses like speed buffs and shit, and there was a cooking system to reward you for finding rare ingredients.

I unironically had more fun with Blade Kitten than I did with DUST. Which is sad, because DUST is the more mechanically competent game, but the pacing fucking killed it for me. I couldn't get more than a few chapters in. Ended up finishing Blade Kitten, but some of the later levels were a goddamned slog - especially anything involving riding those mounts, which the game threw in far too often.

I did like when she'd jump on an enemies shoulders, bury her pussy in their face, and yell "Ride em' Catgirl" before summersaulting them off the screen.

Combat is satisfying, twirling around going fast as fuck with that aerial attack is fun and satisfying if you get lucky and launch yourself through an enemy and across half the map, the maps are pretty to look at, the levels stayed fresh throughout the game, the twist of the story was alright for a first playthrough, and the Blacksmith chick was attractive.

Deviantart art style and the end of the game was rushed. Also it might've just been me, but I thought a lot of shit required to 100% the game was overly cryptic, to the point I got within spitting distance but didn't bother finishing.

It was a good time and I enjoyed the game thoroughly.

The combat felt great and fluid. The difficulty may have been too low in areas, but godamn it was fun

The artwork and FX was impressive by it being pretty much the sole effort of one guy unlike some low effort retroshit style. Dust provided some excellent hand drawn game like Rayman Origins in a metroidvania genre could be done by indies well before Ori came along.

Fidget was a likable fairy sidekick instead of fucking Navi.

I was tolerant of the character designs since most of the time i was fighting not talking to NPCs, and appreciate that he didnt use some shitty sprite-based flash limbs system but there was too much looping rubber inflation that bothers me, but at least it wasnt as disgustingly bad as that trap-meme game.

The cutscenes show the creator had high ambition, but not the most competent to pull it off.

Too bad we will never see another game from the developer again since it took him what, like 14 years working on it as a side job? A sequel could really smooth out the rough edges.
