Even with physical discs, these days it's becoming rarer and rarer for a game to actually play directly off them without some sort of forced copying and installation of game files before you can. Been like that since part of seventh gen, at least for consoles. And that's not getting into day one patches, fix/update patches, etc. Point being that with the push for digital storage, games get a) shipped out in an improper state, and b) game sizes can become bloated even worse since you can just compress files into an improperly usable format and force an install. Back on the PS3, I imported Okami HD because fuck "digital only in the west" releases, and that not only had a forced full game install, but the way the game data is stored it was basically just the PSN version (with it's own tab the way a digitally downloaded game gets in the XMB, as opposed to just sending the data to the "Game Data" folder), but with the issue that it makes damn sure you've got the disc in it before booting up.
