Ultima as a game series has always been kinda interesting and at the same time a reflection of the very industry it was made in, from the pulpier appendix N/Burrough-sy to the second trilogy's retelling of a Pilgrim's Progress/Regress/Screwtape letters, to it's immersive sim's of the Underworld. Now if you're bitching was about the combat systems in those games from the 8-bit era? You might have had a fucking case. If the issue with the last game was that Garriott blew the house budget on trying to ape Mario 64 (because the demo for that was seen by various industry types at the time) and scrapping the traditional party system for a badly done action game? You'd have had a point. If the case was that the last trilogy of the series failed because it devolved into an awful deconstruction of itself (i.e. Ult 7./Pagan/Ascension)? You'd have had a point. But no you had to fuck up on the one job to do here, which was to make a straight up legit case for why the series was mad, other than "mah nigga look at my low energy black twatter post shit".
