STGs are my favorite to do this with, arcade difficulty ensure one player doesn't get too far and there's a sense of absolute excitement when you get to new areas for the first time.

Certain roguelikes might fit in. Like Elona+, TOME and Adom with permadeath turned off so the other player won't fuck up your save.

You could try starting a game of CK 2 or EU 4 and each player plays a separate country for about 50 years.

dustforce could probably work well like this, unless one player is really good at platforming and just plows through the game.

Any sort of builder game can be this. I used to do this with a friend with SimCity4, oh, a decade or so back. I'd do a little bit of work on the city for a few days, then send the save file to him, then he'd work on it for a few days, send it back to me, and repeat. We'd do shit like renaming parks with in-jokes and see if the other would discover it, like an Easter Egg.

You mean STDs? I generally find that these aren't that good for controller pass off, because there's always a skill gap between players, and most are designed to be beaten with minimal deaths. But maybe it's just my problem because I actually like single-credit clearing stuff.
