1.If you upgrade a farm tool with a magnifying glass, that farm tool will display crop stats when equipped.

2.There's a mysterious spot in Yokmir cave that seemingly serves no purpose. If you have Kiel along with you, he can open a secret passage here.

3.The large tablet in the main entrance to the Water Ruins can be read if you have Barrett in your party.

4.If you go west twice from Obsidian mansion, there's an area of this screen that is very dark. If you find any mining nodes here, you can sometimes find shiny stones inside them.

5.In one of the rooms in Obsidian mansion, there's a little wooly statue. It has infinite health, and never attacks, but can be damaged with weapons. Consequentially, if you stand next to it and mash the b button (presumably while doing something else irl), you can easily grind out weapon skill levels.

6.Leon is the best husbando, but he's also the last character unlocked :(

The Heavy Spice that can be alchemized out of Purple Herbs can be sold for 180G, and the Purple Herbs can be purchased from either Jones and Nancy's pharmacy, Illuminata and Kohaku's flower shop, or Arthur's random shop for 120G. Combined with the fact that it levels up your Fire Skill on top of your Alchemy and makes you money to boot, it's a great way to burn extra RP, especially if you get a bunch of Runes/Runies during a big harvest, and can be done very early game.

If it's an actual handheld you can put into your pocket and take out easily without controllers that have to be carried separately and snapped on to use it, and has a decent battery life, then that might work. That said, I do progress the events, but my point was more that rather than it being a case of Shia's quests not showing up, that I prioritized fulfilling them lower than other people's quests, since you can only take one of each quest type (Mailbox, Bulletin board, Owl) per day.
