I'd be curious to see the new content in this expansion, though, this seems to have come out of nowhere. Maybe it's because i play games like these as Single players, through once to experience the story, world and such and then shelf it but i found TQ a lot, like a fuckton more enjoyable than GD.
Not only is it hell of a lot more interesting with it's myths'n shit but i swear it also plays better as in while the gameplay is simple it didnt feel near as much of a drag as it does in GD.

I played the first Diablo without having experience with it as kid, and I found it an alright game, didnt overstay its welcome, but when I moved on to Diablo 2 I got bored after the desert area, it was fun to have skellingtons under my command for a while but by that point I found it to be very repetitive as a whole, perhaps I should have tried another character for my first run, but I didnt want to start over from scratch.
Are there any ARPG´s that have a bit more meat to them? or is it the nature of the genre as a whole? Grim Dawn seems to be popular here.

ARPGs since Diablo 2 have focused on loot and spreading themselves thin with 5 different classes that are barely different from each other.
You could try Nox, its more story focused. There is also Magicka but its not really an RPG.

I'd say at this point Diablo 1 clones and Diablo 2 clones are two different subgenres.
The first is a dungeon crawler, where it's all about killing monsters, navigating randomized labyrinths and optimizing your stats.
The second one tries to be more on RPG side of things, it's about story, exploration, themepark locations and worldbuilding.
Problem is apart from Torchlight 1 and some older game with town management aspect, name of which I don't remember, there aren't any worthwhile Diablo 1 clones, as most of them try to ape Diablo 2.
