the deaths from waxworks always got to me, but thats probably because i havent had the funds to play too many games. even still, i've seen a lot of gore, and theres something striking about these deaths. i think it's the dim, pukey palette and the focus on anatomical displays, kind of like the game is a morgue and the game over screens are its corpses waiting to be examined

Unrelated to my picture, but there was this one game's 'game over' screen which freaked me the fuck out so I would be too scared to play the game for fear of losing. I can't remember what the game was, but I think it was on the PS1 or something. Could also have been a DOS game.

Always gets to me, wish more media did this in general, its always either too light with barely any details or not dark enough despite efforts to do so.
