Anyone have anything to say about this game?

I haven't played very many jrps outside of the FF series when I was younger so I thought I would try this game. I lost all interest in it after being kidnapped by the same bronies 4 fucking times inside 90 minutes and the characters being oblivious to the obvious resulting in contrived sequences.

It's also littered with furries, the encounter rate is too high making exploring tedious and it's leveling system seems a real grind and benefiting from playing the game low level for ages until you can benefit from the better stat growth masters late game which also puts me off.

I think I just don't like JRPGs given how repetitve and story driven they are. This game did have some nice sprite work in it though.

Dragon system is fucking great, and the master shit doesn't really matter all in all with the exception of the level 1 dude you get being able to become a god if you know what you're doing.

Despite me liking it the most out of the BoF series, most people seem to regard 4 as being the best.

I liked it, though some of the themes seemed a bit contradictory. It has that happy-go-lucky adventure feel, but the ending has some bleak moments which entirely shake up the game.

The battle system is kind of fun, but the encounter rate is too high. Eugenics with the dragons forms is fun; make your own golden haired ubermenschdragon now! We'll call it the "Kaiser"!

Momo makes me rock hard.

The game could be pretty schizophrenic about its own story, yeah. So many things that happen are just fucking strange and feel out of place compared to the overarching plot. Also I can't help but feel like the game is meant to tie into the ending of Breath of Fire 2, but there's nothing actually connecting them beyond the purely hypothetical connection between the villain of BoF2 and the unchecked growth of the Desert of Death.

Momo is pretty great, but once I found out Deis was in the game I was sad she couldn't join your party.

The game makes its ties to BoF1 clear, but I think you were supposed to use that connection (Along with Nina and the Wyndians on how their pure bloodline was slowly diminishing because she was breeding with Ryu each game) to show that BoF2 was also connected. The part that seems real jarring is mainly how the world maps for each game seem to massively change.

I believe I was fishing in this game and, by golly, I caught a whale. You don't have to believe me, I know it was real. Sometimes, I lay awake remembering this feat 20 odd years ago. Nay I say, might have been the best day of my life. Highly recommend.

I played BOF4 first and it was big mistake, as I couldn't go back to BOF3 after that.

Combat was just so slow and boring with much worse sprites and animations, I couldn't play it for very long. I got to the point where Ryu is an adults and nothing fucking changed by then, so I just dropped it.

Supposedly its story is better than that of BOF4, but combat is so much worse.

So probably play it first and 4 next so you won't fall in the same trap that I did.

That said I absolutely loved story and characters from BOF4. Most jrpgs have at least one or two annoying cunts in your party forced on you, but in there I absolutely loved everyone.
