Yeah the art style and all the still frames would make great meme pics. Need to go screenshot some of the eps. Like the pornography writer scene, the umbrella one with Miyasama, all the pill popping, every time someone calls someone else a bitch etc or they get into a catfight.

I noticed that most of these shows that had good art styles at the time age well since the art style has just devolved into moe blobs or CG. There are some exceptions of course, but the common seasonal show will most likely have this sort of "downgraded" art style. But there are also older shows that look like absolute shit now that might've been mediocre when they aired.

3DPD warning If you seen the movie Evil (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338309/) it's based on real events at a boarding school still in use. Just a few years back there was a bullying related scandal where older students had burned newcomers with hot irons among other things. I've attended a boarding school myself but it was mixed: I can definitely see that stuff happening considering all the shit that happened even at my school. I went to a school in a rich city so everyone was a bunch of bratty snobs so there weren't any fights. But it was mostly just drugs, kids acting like brats, and lots of bullying, not between guys I don't think I ever saw a case of that at my school, but between girlsone got pushed so far she killed herself and the girls got away with it so there were never any problems since they paid their way out of it. Though if you went to an inner-city school those are basically prison's but the inmates are teenagers instead of middle-aged men. Also sorry for talking so much on this subject, I just thought it was weird how accurate this anime was to real women.

>Then later at Fukiko's birthday party she goes nuts and calls Rei "a shameless bitch" and after Rei plays the violin song that she thought Fukiko had liked
>She slashes the violin with a knife in public in front of a massive group of people including most of her classmates so everyone knows she is crazy now
>The song in question was played by Henmi and she practiced it heavily to play it on her birthday for Henmi but cause of no show she now hates the song and tortures herself by playing it alone

Worth it. Best way to leave a group like that is publicly. Makes the whole group rip apart usually.

This still had yuri in it tho. Nanako clearly confessed her love to Rei and spent a great deal of time helping and thinking about Rei. Rei was in love with Fukiko and later grew to care about Nanako. Mariko was in love with Nanako and later Kaoru. Fukiko pretended to be gay for both Rei and Nanako but was straight and even tried to seduce Nanako at one point.
Sure none of it ends happy but there was definitely yuri here.

Ah yea - the manga has a less hopeful ending than the anime. Also it implies that it was a suicide rather than an accident like in the anime…
The anime toned down some of the worst moments for the characters to give them all a better ending. I do think the manga had a scene tho where Mariko returned back to the school and was welcomed by her classmates after her final solution to the bully question.

The ending basically states Nanako is bisexual which I can accept. Mariko never gets a boyfriend so she is the only truly gay girl aside from Rei alive at the end of the show.
For /u/ fans watch up till a bit after Rei dies and the Kaoru arc begins. Then I'd suggest dropping.
