From what i've pieced together is that Moonchild has forked XUL into what he calls the Unified xul platform.
Essentually, what he's done is fork a later version of firefox which he plans to bring the palemoon platform to.
Basilisk is essentually a beta for palemoon.
This also explains why palemoon 28 uses a much more updated codebase then it's previous versions.
Although, he claims their both seperate applications, which they are.
It's because this browser only share the base that palemoon 28 was updated to (UXP)
Unlike palemoon this one is using a much more implemented version of UXP and palemoon is still in the process of being ported to UXP.
So that shit that people who supported palemoon about "not running later firefox and not taking from downstream" is a bit incorrect.
Rather, he did this in a reaction to firefox dropping XUL. So all of his shit that is based on UXP including palemoon is running a newer version of firefox now.
tl;dr UXP is a fork of firefox 5x, palemoon is being ported to it and basilisk just straight up uses it.
Don't update from palemoon 27 if you still have it.
