If I want to start having a poke at the duo mentioned in the title are there any go-to web pages books or software I should look at? I know that bitch basic Steganography basically just has you appending data after the end tag for the file type. Not entirely sure what software you'd use to do this, i'd assume beyond that you'd be writing short programs to automate the process.

I'd be interested in hearing about anything similar you find interesting that is tangentially related to programming that doesn't involve writing long programs, modifying things/writing short programs is fine.

You can append files to other files using the windows xcopy command. I couldn't find an equivalent *nix command so I wrote a short java program to do the same and gave the source code away on 4/b/ back in like 2008 for free. It used to be amusing to scroll through boards and check the filesizes on things looking for images with hidden attachments, until moot decided to be a fag and block the uploading of such files.

the most simple way for images is to store data in the least significant bit of a colour. humans perceive variation in red the least, so it's common to only use the red LSB. realistically most people won't notice if you use the LSB of all 3 colour channels though.

Have you not heard of the concatenation command, cat?

yeah cat, the program that literally executes code and fucks up most terminal emulators when you concatenate a binary, great idea. inb4 not using only teletype
