Why are DEs so fucking shit?

I wanted to use cinnamon panel with openbox to use some of the themes that it has.

It's not just cinnamon that does this, almost all desktop enviroments do this.

Why can't they be more like lxde and lxqt and not require such unrelated retarded shit for everything?

Those desktop environments are the main culprit for system instability so there's a good reason why they don't allow you to customize it without their tools.

I used to experience constant freezes until I turned off 99% of the window decorations and gizmos that are included with the DE. And I've seen the same said for several very different distros ranging from Fedora to Linux Mint. If you never change a single option you probably won't have any issues but with just a bit of customization you're in a world of trouble.
