I knew I had to change the thermal paste and do some dust sweeping when my comp started shutting down while compiling llvm or firefox. #GentooLyfe

Grab a piece of floss and wring it under the CPU until it pops off. or you hurt yourself because the thread breaks

How did that happen? Was it not secured when it was installed?

The thermal paste is old and glued to the CPU. He can place a blade under a corner and gently turn the edge upward using the heatsink as a fulcrum.

I've been building my own desktop PCs for 20 years now and have never had one die.

Choose better components. Never cheap out on the power supply, and make sure the case has good airflow. Also, don't allow for dust to build up too much.

They're amazing. I bought a newer model and it doesn't even have a way to play a folder. Like you cannot select a folder and select play all songs in it. It's fucking bizarre how the next gen model was actively worse.

First build? 1989 Yes, I'm old.

>Choose better components. Never cheap out on the power supply, and make sure the case has good airflow.

Words of wisdom.
