Is anyone else really impressed with the recent kernel upgrade with respect to laptop battery power. I went from having 2 hours of battery life on my T460 to a conservative 6 or so hours just from the update.

I have been shilling linux for years and pretending that my battery didn't take a significant hit compared to windows.

Does anyone know what the change was that made the machine so much more efficient?

btw I run arch, so I don't know where other distros are updated to this kernel or not.

A quick search pointed to this

sorry, i guess i was unclear. I'm not too good at reading source and was wondering if someone could give like a higer level explanation for what they changed as opposed to having to decipher what the change is.

>I don't know powertop/TLP

Linux has been more efficient for a long time now.

Yeah but now it's more efficient right out of the box, as it should be.
