Unless, of course, you are a data center buying processors in lots of a thousand. It's the use case of "the cloud". Everything "in the cloud" is effected by this. If 8chan weren't on a dedicated machine (which Jim is probably lying about) then other users of the machine could steal your IP address.

At my previous job, we had a large contract with AT&T to design and develop their U-Verse Online platform. We were a small-ish company, so this contract was about half of our entire revenue. At a company mixer, I met one of the corporate AT&T execs; kinda bumped into her as she was leaving the bathroom and told her to "watch where she was going" with a half-smile. She was so used to our people kissing her ass that this startled her and she asked our CEO to have me apologize. She was a thicc Latina, late 30's, about 5'4", really cute. We're all half drunk, and I blurt out "sorry about that, I just thought you were cute" and then I steal a glance at my CEO who raises his eyebrows. Her jaw dropped but there was clearly a smile behind it. As the night dragged on and we hopped bars, I was eventually invited to her hotel room. Funny thing was, she was sharing the hotel room with a "male friend" which made for an awkward evening of waiting for the dude to leave the room while we made out for a few seconds, and vice versa whenever I'd leave the room. She eventually fell asleep in his bed, not mine. I was asked not to share the story with anybody in our company. We hooked up a few times after that, she was a bit of a whore. It was exciting keeping the secret from our coworkers that I was boinking the client. Anyways...

You do realise that the AMD GPU's don't give you full access to the hardware functions over the PCI-e space right? You have to upload a firmware blob to the hardware on every boot to actually use the GPU. Nvidia GPU's before the GTX 800 series don't need this crap. AMD GPU's that are ancient don't need this backdooring crap. It's all fucking botnet now cause intel's GPU's after haswell also require firmware blobs to be uploaded by the kernel to even use the hardware which is botnet.

It all comes tumbling down tumbling down dumbling down~
>While Intel has enjoyed a decade of dominance in PCs and servers, competitors are on the march. Intel typically leads by shrinking its chips faster than competitors and being the first out the door with faster and more capable processors. Under Krzanich’s watch, Intel has struggled to produce 10-nanometer chips, and competitors like AMD have caught up with its Zen architecture for Ryzen and EPYC processors. AMD now competes in both performance and value, and Krzanich recently admitted Intel will even lose server share to AMD this year.
>Intel was originally planning to release its 10-nanometer processors back in late 2016, but the company recently delayed that once again to 2019 due to yield issues. It’s the first major stutter in Intel co-founder Gordon Moore’s incredibly accurate Moore’s Law prediction of roughly doubling the number of transistors in its processors every couple of years. Intel is also redesigning its processors to protect against the Spectre security flaws that were uncovered earlier this year. Once Intel gets production back on track, it faces competition that it can’t pay off PC makers to stem.
>Nvidia and AMD are leapfrogging Intel because GPUs, unlike traditional processors, have hundreds or thousands of cores that can each handle recurring calculations over and over again, making them ideal for training AI.
And here's the real meat of the article, that is, we now learn of a usual suspect behind all these failures:
>Alongside all these chip battles, Krzanich also attempted to reshape Intel’s culture. Intel strongly opposed the Gamergate controversy after it became involved following an advertising snafu. Intel pledged $300 million to focus on diversity, with Krzanich aiming for a “full representation in all levels” of its workforce by 2020.

I work in networking a couple blocks from their sprawling campus and get to see how they're doing, both when visiting and from their employees leaking out to us. I'd describe it's internal state a few years ago as dystopic fallen Rome. And prior to the acquisition they prepped it for a pump&dump and cut basically all benefits and salaries. After the acquisition, it's just been being cannibalized. Everyone in networking in SD is worried as they were the anchor of the tech sector here and now they're an animated corpse. It's just a matter of time before people start noticing.
They've also been panicked about Trump as they've been stuffing their ranks with illegals for a decade that they get from visa overstays and ones that just literally walk across the border with Canada (this is way more common than you think with Pajeets). The push against visa overstays hit them hard and they've been running an underground railroad of sorts ferrying them back into Canada to work at a subsidiary so they're safe from deportation rather than send employees back to India. One of our employees that is getting kicked out due to being an illegal joined Qualcomm so they'd sneak him out of the country.
