Why are we still using Flash Memory as non-volatile storage in CY+3 /tech/?

Is it because the limited lifespan of flash memory is goode for the economy?:^)

What ever happened to all the various forms of NVRAM that were hyped around when memristors were physically implemented for the first time?

There's no single cell SSD that can be bought anymore.

Same thing with networking devices like routers, I still have a 15 year old netgear modem/router that works fine and the dlink that I bought 2 years ago is already dying.
