Get in here fellow MacFags

The Keynote begins in about an hour, 10 am PST!!!!

>According to Bloomberg, there will be no hardware announcements at WWDC. Apple has new MacBooks, MacBook Pros, iMacs, and iPad Pro models in the works, but Bloomberg says none of those products will be ready in time for a WWDC launch.

Oh well, that's a little disappointing. Hopefully though they'll make up for it by providing more Animojis, new WatchStraps, and made some never colors for iPad cases.

It also looks like we'll get to see MacOS 10.14. It doesn't matter that High Sierra is a buggy mess anymore, because that's about to be obsolete, and we can all upgrade to the correct path soon enough, super excited. There is also a new OS for the Watch, which judging by the number of threads here, will please /tech/.

>Apple analyst Gene Munster, however, believes Apple may be planning to introduce a Beats-branded product that includes Siri integration as a low-cost HomePod alternative. The device would not be branded as a HomePod, but would function in a similar manner.

Pretty sick. Now I'd never be caught dead with Beats products, but I'm glad Amazon and Google won't have the monopoly on home surveillance systems.

I also forgot to mention that they'll show IOS12. It is rumored that they'll allow IOS12 apps to run on the Mac, because as you know, everyone really wants that.

>Cross-platform functionality may be the biggest change Apple will introduce in iOS 12 and macOS 10.14. The iOS 12 update, when paired with macOS 10.14, will allow developers to design a single app that will work on iPhones, iPads, and Macs, a major shift from the separate Mac and iOS apps available today.

>iOS 12 is also expected to bring new Animoji for the iPhone X, along with Animoji integration into FaceTime, allowing iPhone X users to chat with friends and loved ones using Animoji characters.

YES!!!!

It uses face mapping to apply your expressions to an animated character. At a technical level it's quite clever, since they can do it in real time, it just happens to be absolutely retarded.

I just read this comment on the animoji movie

>... and yes, people still use Animoji. Beyond the obvious --- kids using it for fun, I'm 38 and I use them as reaction stickers instead of Emoji. Rather than hunt down an emoji to fit my reaction, I make the face in Animoji and drag the sticker to the iMessage chat window. Much faster, customizable and fun.

everyone i know runs a dark dock and taskbar because the standard mode is like staring into the fucking sun combined with every icon being various shades of colors found only on children's toys, and you know what, i take that as a tacit admission of a design failure by apple. apple, who lead the industry in good designs, or at least used to. the brushed metal of pre-sierra worked with everything, it didn't need an alternative mode, that was good design. finally turning around and jamming dark grey into everything means that they've absolutely stopped trying, and just said fuck it, black matches everything.

That was absolute shit from day one back when QuickTime 4 introduced it.

The solution is really, really simple: Allow theming. System 7 worked fine with Kaleidoscope schemes, OS 8-9 had its own native theme system inherited from Copland. Just give us the freedom to swap out your fugly UI.

brushed metal and reflections are better than this translucency and blur trash we get now. it used to be that it was encouraged to render a nice looking icon from a high-quality 3d model instead of smashing together a gradient in photoshop and calling it a day. the design lost all sophistication.

If you need a desktop, definitely the hardware. Your choices are iPad+, iTV+, useless ashcan, and no server hardware.

If you're a laptop pleb, harder to say, since on the one hand everything is being taped/glued/soldered shut (including Apple's infamously overpriced RAM/SSDs), and all the ports are being removed, but on the other hand every other laptop brand is doing the same thing.

On the software side, it's just been a steady deathmarch from the mixed beginnings of OSuX, to the "become iOS"-era starting with 10.7.

The obviously worst part of this is Apple's 1st-party applications. Their entire once-industry-leading professional A/V suite has been flushed down the shitter (special shout out to the removal of QuickTime's component subsystem with no replacement, making ANY OTHER professional A/V software almost useless on OSuX), their server software is basically abandoned, their consumer stuff is getting more and more dumbed down. Pretty much the only bright spot is the fact FileMaker hasn't skipped a beat.

When the iMac is changed to a giant iPad via their foldable patent http://www.patentlyapple.com/patently-apple/displays-flexible/ and http://money.cnn.com/2017/11/29/technology/apple-patent-foldable-display-patent-application/index.html people will be acclimated to the idea of a giant foldable iPad that is similar to what they had been using with the iMac. The trash can doesn't fit that mold.

Apple will be eliminating the macintosh product in the next five years. They will also be establishing more centralized development environment until everything is compiled and signed on Apple servers, just so you """"""users"""""" don't try something Apple doesn't want.

Well, this thread, despite all macboys doing the live report was a hilarious alternative to your average "tech"-website live feed for Apple events.

Now, a serious part. How do I into same things on GNU operation system?

1. Day lightmode -> night darkmode theme switching, preferrably not instant, more like redshift's continuous adjustment. Is it even possible on GTK/Qt? Would be cool if it also adjusted website's CSS theming.

2. I know I can Alt+PrintScr to screenshot windows, but is there a non-bloat GUI interface to start screen/window recording for absolute normies who don't need ffmpeg spells on daily basis (me)?

3. Live facial capture and transferring it to animated characters. Can be useful to avoid botnet for various video-conferences, combined with voice scrambling. Think of Kizuna AI. There is Live2D, but it's non-free.

4. Tagging images and shit. We have >>>/hydrusnetwork/ and it's cool, when will tagging be supported on operating system level? Directories are soo0 1900.
