Just fucking keep it in the metadata (--add-metadata) or keep the *.info.json files (--write-info-json) because MP4 doesn’t have the same metadata capabilities as MKV and youtube-dl currently doesn’t have an option to force the format (or at least I’m not aware of such). For good sorting just name your files %(upload_date)s%(id)s.%(ext)s.

I've made a channel backup with this, it got removed and now I realized that around 1/5 of all videos is corrupted.

Ffmpeg is giving me following errors

these files seems big so I am wondering if it is possible to recover them?

also who fucked up its job, yt-dl or ffmpeg used for merging audio with video?

Its a bug in ffmpeg. I had the same shit happening the other day when I was transcoding some BDs. I looked around and there are closed bug reports about it from years ago. Its obviously not going to get fixed so just redownload and hope it doesn't fuck up again.
