Fun fact: the reason leftists love the word "experience" so much is because it is evocative of subjectivity and relativity. It is intended as a reminder that, supposedly, it is never possible to communicate one's "experiences" fully to another person, so communication is inherently flawed and an inferior activity. This is a handy dogma to have whenever there is a study around whose results are inconvenient and necessitate swift dismissal. (Also it's useful when a member of a "marginalized" group has their anecdotal evidence of racism or sexism or *phobia countered with a piece of scientific evidence on any subject whatsoever: "are you erasing my experiences???")

True. I realized after I'd sent my first posts that I missed this aspect of repeated use in that article of the word "experience." It compels users not to think in terms of questions and answers first, it is a plea to empathize. It demands a split attention, paid both to research and to "inclusiveness." Except the man is simply wrong: you can't have both at the same time. He mentioned limited resources that his company has to solve (real or unreal) problems, yet he demands the opposite from his users: to dedicate equal amount of time and effort to both of those aspects of communication. This can't be done, not to mention politeness only pleases its direct recipient, while good research serves all.

I don't know exactly when the -1 shit happened. I think they started adding moderation around 2000-2001 or so, and it was still usable then because every post started out at 0, and the interface was fine with just Lynx or other plain HTML browser.

I guess maybe 5 years later or so they fucked up the interface and also made anonymous comments start at -1. That means they were effectively invisible since the default visibility threshold is 0, unless you got an account and changed your settings.

Before the -1 shit, all comments were visible and shown in full. So it was just a matter of loading the page in Lynx and you could read everything just fine.

But later on, they started truncating posts and you had to open that subthread to view the full comment and its replies. But wait, that's not all... The strength of the web has always been the constant migrations and change, with search engines keeping track of the best place to send the users. Now, search engines send you to shitholes and communities have millions from cronies (and therefore indirectly the government), millions they can spend to keep their position of power even when undeserving.

You guys are going about trolling stack overflow all wrong. You shouldn't be making troll questions. You should be making your profile as diverse as possible, and then giving the worst possible answers you can. And if people say anything, accuse them of being sexist, homophobic, racist, etc. You know, if an O(N) solution exists, give an O(N^2). If no one corrects you, you're giving bad answers to stack overflow and lowering their content quality. If you're being corrected, you're getting people who could be helping others to waste their time on a troll question. And if they figure out that you're trolling, they'll have a harder time figuring out who is a troll and who is genuinely making mistakes, and they'll have to be nice to you because you're a new, "marginalized" user. If they give you shit, point to that blog post and tell them they're not being welcoming to new users.

By the way, trolling with answers is arguably more sustainable:

1: downvoting an answer takes away from reputation, so unless they are sure that make you delete it, they will think twice if they want to spend a rep point to downvote you

2: answers are less often viewed by random people, and the asker can't downvote you if they have little reputation

3: anyone but the asker has less incentive to test if your answer actually works; on the other hand, a serious answer will require full understanding of the question. so there's a chance that the asker will waste their time with your horseshit answer and get mad

4: some of them can even be upvoted if they are at least half true and it will counter several downvotes on your other answers/questions
