The 4.15 failed to compile with the deblobed scripts.

>Librebooted Amd Laptops?

OwO I want them!

If u missed the thread about this, someone on halfchan said that Libreboot might have found a way to liberate all AMD hardware

>There was talk on the Libreboot IRC that they found a bug which effectively kills the PSP.

>IIRC, it works in everything except some of the latest CPUs, but even there they are already speculating upon finding other ways in.

>If you want more details just ask on #libreboot on Freenode, because most of this info is yet to be publically documented.

First pic related is from their notabug. Talking about getting dev boards for this.

https://notabug.org/libreboot/libreboot/issues/409

So I asked. Heres what happened

<thehackerknownas> Hello, I heard from someone that the Libreboot project might soon have a way to disable the PSP on AMD hardware.
<thehackerknownas> Is that true?
<jokaero> daubt that besides its not just disabling psp/me you can disable me on x220 and x230 but they are not librebootable atm
<Huntereb> thehackerknownas no, don't believe anything /g/ tells you.
<thehackerknownas> ok, well I also saw the thing on the notabug, about finding a board for PSP liberation
<thehackerknownas> Is that not what I think it is?
<thehackerknownas> https://notabug.org/libreboot/libreboot/issues/409
<jokaero> yes it is ..but again as i said there is more to it than erasing/disabling psp
<thehackerknownas> ah I see
<thehackerknownas> so disabling/erasing it might be possible, but not necessarily Libreboot?
<jokaero> true ... i think info on disabling psp is still unverified afaik
<jokaero> if info on disabling psp is true boards might be corebootable
<jokaero> but for running libreboot you would have to provide foss replacement for blobs that coreboot uses
<jokaero> most notably vbios on laptop boards/boards with onboard gfx

So we could be getting PSP disabled and coreboot on lots of AMD stuff soon.

Second pic is a cute boy I love him ^.^

Prefer to stick to the main repos, sorry.

Thanks anon! The only question is is what is the equivalent ans laptop to a thinkpad with classical keyboard.

 No.900213

>>900210

umm, maybe raven ridge thinkpad? wouldn't have classic keeb but it would be a thinkpad in all the other ways

 No.900755>>900780 >>900812

So you've disabled the ME and PSP? Good for you, now you just need to free all the other proprietary software on your system.

Graphic cards are horribly behind in this regard for 3D vBIOS freedom. Make sure support exists before trying.

why do they have to be such meanies?

I mean, they dont gain anything from keeping this closed source. It's not like they're making money off this software or anything. Theres no monetary incentive for the companies to make stuff like that proprietary.

>_<

 No.900787>>900798

>>900780

Yes there is. Their competitors would steal their improvements but keep theirs proprietary and thus offer the superior product. These "security modules" are also primarily there to enforce DRM down the line which is necessarily proprietary.

 No.900798>>900801

>>900787

but wouldnt the GPL protect against that?

>He pirates proprietary software and anime but thinks that corporations are bound by the license spook

 No.900812

>>900755

One of the reasons graphics cards are commonly proprietary is because of all the patents -- by keeping it proprietary, they're essentially obfuscating this -- making it harder to tell if they're infringing on any patents. This is also why intel hasn't bothered to break into the world of graphics.

To cover their tracks

steal open source code - repack and sell

nt4 source code leak proved just that

The only one on the market with the nice keyboard and a Trackpoint is the T25.
