How safe is the average normalfag from basic tech attacks? The main advantage of botnet tech is that it has the motivation to try and make even clueless idiots as safe as possible, but how effective is it?

Let's assume a reasonable normalfag adversary like a non-targeted criminal attack or a pissed off skiddie who can google tutorials. The target uses Google services, Facebook services and twitter on their phone and laptop (WiFi).

I assume the most effective attack would be a simple phish (send bait link, "You must sign in with Facebook to view this full page.") but would any other attacks really work? Enforced HTTPS would make a MITM attack difficult and these sites would be good at detecting unusual login activity. Would an evil twin + MITM redirect attack even be effective for the mobile apps?

All of this works for the bottom 80% of people. The people in the upper 20% are the ones doing the hacking.

normalfags aren't secure at all. there are about 10 million ways to pwn them and kiddies always have a list of 5 different favorite tricks.

also

>pissed off skiddie

consider suicide

>20%

I wouldn't even say 2%. The amount of people apathetic about their own security is frightening.

>le kys

I'm not talking about me. That's what I would consider the only realistic targeted threat an average person could face.

>How safe is the average normalfag from basic tech attacks?

On a scale to 0 to 10 I'll say 0

> The main advantage of botnet tech is that it has the motivation to try and make even clueless idiots as safe as possible, but how effective is it?

None, it's all vaporware

> but would any other attacks really work?

A simple MITM is sufficient, and for other devices like routers you just need to find the good backdoor (and there's lots of them).

Why ?

Because 99.9% of users have installed a Trojan horse or adware that which communicates somewhere in a non encrypted channel.

Even a brand new laptop with a shinning win 7,8,10 would have some shit like that because nowadays retailers like hp, acer and others add datamining software (disguised as driver or power management tools) to the OS and a lot of them are either made by pajeets or are backdoored.

The actual situation of tech is Apocalyptic but not deadly exploited, the only threats are minor since the only ones dumb enough to try to scam people are sandniggers and they just want money not something else.

The actual situation in some extremely flawed software is running, but not to easy to exploit due to other factors.

Most normies are behind the router of their ISP and so they have a nat and firewall (most of them only ever touch that box when they have no internet).

Last time there was a virus / worm that acted behind the nat (remind of WannaCry) we saw major panic everywhere, because when that defensive line is passed almost every normie computer is vulnerable.

That and the fact that normies today only squat 10 web services reduces the attack surface of all that shitty software enormously.

>>894737

what about normies who use macOS but don't ever install shit software, and also keep the browser and everything else up to date?

I believe it's fair to say that finding out how to exploit their shitty botnet software would be going outside the "basic tech attacks" territory, I would consider a "basic tech attack" something your regular script kiddie would be able to do after watching videos on youtube about how to use kali linux.

 No.894888>>894890

>>894886

Well, if you want chaos and lulz, just make and put that nice stuff into kali.

I think that's the only way to safe software is to make sure any shit software has it's exploits direly given to pajeet and skiddies.

why not start with https://hub.zhovner.com/geek/how-skype-fixes-security-vulnerabilities/

https://github.com/zhovner/Skype-iplookup

there's a lot of wrong bullshit in skype, it can be made a bit more accessible to normies to exploit and then it's a matter of time until it's destroyed

I saw a lot of normies still use skype, although it's pretty obvious that it's shit.
