Hey,

How to get started with electronics and low level programming?

Are there any kits or guides to get your feet wet?

What sort of electronics do you want to do? Analog or digital?

digital

This is good intro book for digital design and low level systems programming (despite the childish appearance).

https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Design-Computer-Architecture-Second/dp/0123944244/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1520723025&sr=8-1&keywords=digital+design+and+computer+architecture

You can find it on libgen.

There are two fucking stickies, use them, faggot.

I started messing around with it with PIC microcontrollers because you can buy the chips for $1 a piece (they used to give free samples, you got ~5 free at a time) and the development board was cheap too, $20-30.

you could program the pic's in their assembly which was well enough documented, or C, but I think you had to pay extra for C.

if you want to be a faggot though just get a NuPi.

thanks will look into it.

I've got an Arduino starter kit so i can play around with that first.

Go get "Practical Electronics for Inventors" off libgen. It has every piece of reference material you'll need to know.

Start with Arduino because it's a good framework that makes getting into hardware easier. You can use PICs or whatever later once you understand basics it doesn't really matter. If you want to use ARM avoid garbage like the raspberrypi (you'll run into myriads of random problems because they're only good for assembling high level things run within linux) in lieu of better SBCs or something like Cypress' devkits for small things.
