I'm getting a bachelors in cs soon but if I spend one extra semester in college, I can get a masters in cs as well. is it worth it?

 No.845259

Since it's only one semester it should be worth it. But really it's you who should know, not some random faggot on the internet.

Assuming you don't wanna go independent, probably.

Did you go really deep into your studies during undergrad? How the hell is the difference between a bachelor and masters only a semester?

And yes, you should. You've sunk so much time/money in it to this point that a semester is hardly any more expensive, and it will get you a large bump in pay grade.

Burgerland is a wonderful country.

I got AP credit from high school so I only spend 3 years in college for a BS

I don't see how a one-semester MSc can be done, at least if burger CS departments have anything at all in common with my leaf Physics department. We offer a one year accelerated Masters, for students who already started the research project during summers in undergrad, and who wrote two fourth year undergrad theses.

One semester just isn't enough time for a real project. The only way it could work is if it's a coursework Masters.

Hah.

Honestly though, some places don't require a thesis (even for a masters).

That's a diploma factory, the kind that gives Pajeet a ton of papers certifying him for everything even though he can't do any of it.

It sounds more like OP is at a degree mill. In the US, I did 6 years for a BS+MS at a good school with IB (better than AP) credit.

All [under]graduate degrees require some form of dissertation. If you find one that for some reason doesn't, then you should not even consider enrolling.

Not even close

There are usually two options: thesis or internship. If you go the internship path it's because you're incompetent and your degree is fake for all intents and purposes. People will see that and auto-reject you for daring to pretend you have the degree.

That's really not true at all. It depends on your field of interest. Even in a lot of sciences there are often options between program and non-thesis program. In biology it is pretty common for institutions to offer both options. In a non-thesis program you typically have some sort of penultimate exam to take at the end of the degree rather than a thesis defense.
