What service provider do you use for phones? I've heard of shit like Tello which is much cheaper, but surely I'm missing something. All of these companies and others like it run off a bigger company's towers, so why would that company allow them to use the towers? How is anyone profiting here? What shady stuff is going on with these? Am I retarded?

i assume you're american?

running off larger towers is a process to make monopolies seem less like monopolies. it's becoming less common as the cost to set up towers/boxes becomes cheaper, but the bigger companies will always have more coverage.

Well which one should I use?

none of them

if you must just go for whatever's cheapest and still suits your needs, just don't pretend you have privacy.

I use a service provider that uses a larger company's towers. I agree that it doesn't really make sense as "competition" and is probably just to avoid being called a monopoly. Why even avoid it at this point, does anybody have the power or balls to fix this shit?

Why even have the argument of net neutrality or not when every normalfag (the only people who matter) are already using mobile internet almost exclusively? It doesn't even fall into that argument.
