The browser's developer and furry porn enthusiast claims the extension cause economic damage to site owners and as such it will be considered malware. The decision won't be reconsidered unless the "ad click generation" feature has been removed from the extension.

Man, I don't use it yet. I wasn't born at a time when it was normal to browse this these.

But there are advantages to use them: going directly to the point. There is no flashing bullshit all around the page. So it makes it easy to focus. Moreover, you can see pics with w3m, so it's not just raw text.

But I can't live the "beautiful" interface. I'm not a caveman, I'm just weak. But nothing is permanent.

You can edit the pages with emacs, allowing you to display only the most interesting part of the most visited website. It's ever better. But I don't know if at this point, using rss is not a better solution.

Or maybe waiting for netrunner, maybe it's gonna display the pages better.

Dillo is a decent GUI browser that's light and good for just text and some pictures. Doesn't do anything fancy. Not sure if you could post here with it. Probably? I don't have it installed for the moment. I think my personal solution in an idealized world where I'm not lazy would be w3m with images plus dillo plus one other emergency browser (seamonkey maybe) for when I HAVE to use something more full-featured. Also OP you are a faggot. archive.org deletes 8ch tier stuff for the kikes. It has happened before.

In the post it says pale meme makes

>Pale Moon generates about 2.5 million AdSense views a month, for a properly decently ranked site, and the revenue from it is far from that threshold -- in fact, it'd have to increase 10-fold to get there. 25 million views/month is a lot of traffic that only large and popular sites will generate. The average company with AdSense running will be able to offset some of their expenses with it, not more. Banning those kinds of accounts would not get "Google out of a financial bind" at all, unless they literally banned thousands upon thousands of accounts to make a dent. I've seen no evidence of that, not in 2012, not before and not after.

memechild continues on to defend jewgle by saying the whole dump is (((unsubstantiated proof))). Very likely memechild makes alot of money from jewgle since this post is over two years old.

This was nothing but virtue signaling in its highest form.

Granted it isn't a botnet, as it's actually a clickbot.

But that doesn't change the fact that this is a fucking security and privacy nightmare.

It's main purpose makes your ip stick out like a sore thumb in advertisers servers, it's like when you turn on "do not track me" on webbrowsers, sure it sounds like a good idea but in the long run it just ruins any amount of anonymity you had

Hovever, Palemoon blocking the addon isn't the worst thing here, it's how they fucking justified they're reasoning of why they did it, just by saying "IT HURTS PEOPLE WHO RELIY ON ADS!!!!!" they have unknowingly unleashed a horde of retards who will actually think this works simply because he said that.

Just like TOR where if enough people use it then you can't tell who is accessing what unless you have control over all the endpoints and relay nodes. But even then it is heavily time/energy consuming to do so.

A user visits Amazon and then also visits another site selling books, Amazon wants to fucking know so they can generate targeted ads showing those books on Amazon.com instead -- all in the hopes you'll click on those ads like a retard and buy the books on Amazon. Or maybe you visit a Sci-Fi website, now Amazon knows what kind of genre of book to put in the ads targeted at you.

The end game is getting you to buy something from someone. They make money because one person buying something offsets the cost of ten people not buying something -- but with AdNauseum every click lowers that offset. Maybe ten people were enough that a single purchase could make up for it, but what about 10,000 "people" that are "clicking" on the ads and buying absolutely fucking nothing?

>Didn't know you can save settings, thanks for telling me. Have any general tips on what to block?

For my own use I use a whitelist method instead of the per default blacklist.

A whitelist methodology is a simple firewall rule which is:

-Block everything, and authorize when needed

A blacklist is:

-Authorize everything and block what is known(via a list of known blocked things).

There are 3 kind of posible state in umatrix

-Authorized

-Blocked

-Neutral

No need to explain the first two.

Neutral means that if for example the CSS/image are in this state if will only allow domain who are authorized, thus if you authorize 1st-party then they will load and all the other non specified third parties will be blocked.

The only thing that you should authorize is 1st-party CSS and image

Note: a lot of website have retarded external CSS so you might manually have to authorize some manually and then save your changes (select the padlock when you want to save changes)

I recommend at least that you block script everywhere.

To do so you need to either add the line

* * script block

To the "my rules" section

Or In the upper left corner there's a blue cell designating the current scope of the matrix. Click on it, select the asterisk and allow/block globally.

http://i.stack.imgur.com/Bnles.png

Then save your changes (select the padlock when you want to save changes).

Here's my basic rules if you're interested

>but it's a botnet

Then don't run it on your home network, dumbass. I wouldn't either. That doesn't mean you couldn't set up a server to run multiple instances of this in different browsers as long as you had autorefresh or web crawling extensions to go along with it. You could even put it behind proxies, a VPN (not the same one you use), or Tor and get a new IP every so often to really fuck their shit up.

its not limiting my freedom as a consumer. i can still block ads that pester me and clog my view of a website with uBlock or even adblockplus if anyone even uses that shit anymore.

you act as if purposefully screwing over advertisers is the same as, for example, being allowed to run an extension that pops a little button on the side of images to save them with a single click, or an extension that takes entire blocks out of view because they annoy you (the consumer) uBlock. And you complain about this not because its an important fight against censorship but simply because they won't let you run the thing that ruins the livelihood of a couple people. Might as well complain that you can't run an extension that installs ransomware in every server you connect to.
