Discord started rise to popularity from 2014-Present centered around gaming communities. During that time these types of subjects were probably the most talked on Discord Eg. sandbox, battleroyale, building, cartoons, survival, "content creators". This data was collected analysed then sold to Epics Games for a stake in some of the revenue the game generates. On release to genrate hype "content creators" were paid to play, shill, and talk about the game or make content relating to the game. Gamers just need that first hitch to get stuck on playing a game and will get more attached to it the more hype brought up on the net.
