Since all the existing programs for this are pure shit, how hard is it to make your own?

Maybe /tech/ could write one?

We would need someone to make a logo tho.

Never had a problem with virtual drive software. Care to explain how it's all pure shit?

Tell me which one you're using and i'll explain why it's shit.

What's a virtual drive? If it's just a file that acts as a filesystem, Linux supports that out of the box.

If a loop mount isn't powerful enough use cdemu for mounting any of the oddball optical media image formats and qemu-nbd for disk images with partition tables. run modprobe nbd max_part=16 first

What's the intention behind this? What's wrong with the software you tried to use for your usecase(s)?

I don't use Windows anymore, but if I understand correctly what you mean, the only times I used this were for encrypted TrueCrypt partitions, a RAM disk for temp and whatever else I felt like using it for (only do this if you have RAM to spare), and on occasion mounting disk backups. (Linux does all of those natively.)
