dump that and restart, even windows has better audio support

Pulseaudio, because it lets me redirect audio from the programs running as other user into my server via UNIX sockets. Also because it just werks, other than the occasional program that refuses to play nice with its bitrate

Why do people hate pulseaudio? I've never had a problem with it

Pulseaudio down samples anything 24 and 32 bit audio down to 16/44. It's not a huge deal, but if you do any kind of recording, it's a pain in the ass.

Pure alsa: cause jack sndio pulse and pipewire are all just frontends to the real thing.

Basically, everything else is a bloated unneeded piece of shit.

Jack holds no real purpose as you can do all of it through simple aloops.

Pulse has no purpose as you can do everything with virtual volume specifications

pipewire has no purpose as it's just redhat trying to undo the mess that is pulse.

Pretty much everything is just alsa, theres no reason to use anything else.

Additionally, the default asoundrc for alsa is 10x more stable then any of the above.

With pulse and jack you'll regularly get xruns and the audio will become all mangled and shitty.

With just alsa it just werkz
