Can we take a minute or two just to realize and gloat about how actually good this was? I fucking hated the absolute shit out of The Trash Awakens, and fully expected this to be just as shitty, but despite a few flaws, I fucking loved it.

Also, have a webm of the best scene in the film.

 No.739>>4145

>I fucking loved it

That's because you're stupid. Thanks for posting the only good scene of the movie, I'm sure Disney didn't leak it on purpose.

 No.740>>741 >>744

Just came back from it, and holy crap! it was so much better than 7! Not quite the kino of Episode 1, but I'd be happy if they made the rest of the movies like this one!

This is now a thread for commemorating everything that was lost so that Rogue One could be made. And there are people who will say it was all worth it for those two minutes at the end.

Blessed be he who was the true chosen one… Seriously, how could Disney make such an underwhelming plot the story of acquiring the Death Star plans? Kyle's story was perfection and even fanfiction.net did a better job at storytelling than Disney. Funny thing is I recall that the characters from the Rebels cartoon were going to be the ones to acquire the Death Star plans but I guess the new she-president of Lucasfilm didn't think they were diverse enough…

It's kinda funny that even normalfags are acknowledging this as the strongest scene in the movie. Every blue pilled shill supposedly loves the diversity squad, yet that parts that everyone loves the most is Vader, Tarkin and company killing them all. I won't say it was bad, especially after the train wreck of TFA but I will be upset for all that we lost to bring it to being.

The only thing we have to gain as a net positive from R1 is the possibility Disney sees the overwhelmingly positive reaction to Vaders scenes and give us a Vader/Sheev movie while JEJ and Mcdiarmid are still alive. The odds of that are slim because Jews gotta make max shekels and dark themed bad guys movies limit the audience, but the idea that it could happen is nice

Can you imagine them calling him Sheev on screen?

 No.749

>>748

That's the dream, tbh. I'm 21 years old and my little cousin who's five just started loving Star Wars. I mentioned Palpatines first name to him last Christmas and he hasn't called him anything but Sheev since. He thinks it's the funniest fucking thing

 No.752

JEJ sounded really old, i mean i know the dude is 80 something but like, fuck, they were able to re-use old tarkin and leia lines, don't see why they couldn't mix his voice to sound younger again.

 No.756>>757 >>764

If they do a Vader movie I want Hayden Christensen back.

 No.757>>759

>>756

There's no real reason not to bring back Hayden, he'd be dubbed and in a suit or under seven layers of burn makeup at all times. You'd never see him basically. Hell, Dave Prowse is alive still too. it would be cool to get him in the movie for a scene or two

 No.759

>>757

I meant I'd like to see a few scenes of Vader with his mask off or in flashbacks of Anakin during the clone wars.

 No.764>>766

>>756

Hayden Christensen developed for the better as an actor after episode III and he did some work on stage. I'd love to see the packs of lemmings sputter to deny him pulling off a good performance in a Star Wars film.

>>746

Do dark-themed villain protagonist movies limit the Star Wars audience, though? As a franchise it's always stood out to me as one where merchandise and memorabilia seemed to favor, or at least give noticeable parity, to the antagonists.

Anecdotes being what they are, I'd see comments about the first Force Unleashed game disappointed about the faction switch 1/3rd into the game or praising the Vader prologue as its highlight. Among the last batch of Legends novels, Darth Plagueis was the one book without Thrawn in it that people who I knew were not balls deep in SW lore knew and talked about. When The Old Republic launched in 2011, most servers were heavily biased in favor of the Sith Empire and PvP was masochism on Galactic Republic characters.

The only obstacle with a Vader and/or Sheev anthology movie or video game is probably that fan expectations would be so lofty that even Disney and EA might think twice about chancing a flop.

 No.765>>767 >>774

All the nostalgia-bait in Rogue One was at least more appropriate than in TFA. Things I enjoyed somewhat: the brief mention of General Syndulla and the Ghost showing up as part of the rebel fleet, Red Leader was the same one from ANH which felt like it fit in nicely, nobody beat Vader and in the end those rebel scum got what they deserved.

I didn't like that pig-faced guy and Ponda Baba showing up though, it seemed too forced. Also, they would have to move quickly from that scene to get to the cantina. CGI Tarkin would've been better used in moderation, have him sat at his desk and not moving around all uncanny. Vader's voice is weird too, his cheesy one liner was out of character as well. Krennic and the death troopers were unnecessary.

All in all, not worse than TFA, which isn't much of a compliment.

 No.766>>903

>>764

A whole movie focused on Vader and Palpatine would be bad. Their appeal is that they have small screen time, they don't tire the audience. Imagine a 90min movie with Vader wheezing most of the time. And also, giving them more backstory would be too risky, Lucas himself managed to make Vader looks like a whinny bitch with ROTS. Hell, the novelization Vader was leagues ahead the movie version, even with his corny one-liners when killiing the CIS council, which actually made sense in the context.

>Also, they would have to move quickly from that scene to get to the cantina.

there was definitely a few hours between the cameo and the destruction of the city. i figured this out since spanish kyle and not-jan were smuggled out of the city by space isis and taken to forest whitaker's cave, which had some mileage between it and the city, or else they wouldn't have escaped in time. also, the imperials had entirely evacuated the city, and that definitely included taking supplies and shit like AT-STs, probably just leaving the dead behind after the scourge.

congratulations on being stupid. leia wasn't officially at the battle (why would an imperial senator be aboard a rebel flagship), hence her attempted excuse in the first place.

it's fine for you to call the movie bad and point out an actual reason as to why (ie white jan having that grrl power moment in the shootout on jedha), but when you bring up a bad example like this and spout it nonstop, it only makes you look like the retard.

Yeah, that's because Anakin was an angsty young man who let his emotions get the best of him. That's his character, you retard, it was intentional.

Vader saw the ship there.

Vader saw the ship there. There was no reason for him to even listen to a word she had to say after that bold faced lie. If anything she should have been immediately executed.

>>904

oh my god, you really don't fucking get it, do you?

no shit vader saw the ship, but he had no idea she was on it. like i said, why would an imperial senator be hanging out on a rebel ship at a battle against the empire? jesus fuck i can't even.

 No.908>>915

Because it was the same fucking ship and Leia and Alderaan were always suspected of being Rebel sympathizers. Of course he was gonna know she was behind it considering it was her escort.

>why would an imperial senator be hanging out on a rebel ship at a battle against the empire?

Because the writers don't give a flying fuck and just needed her there to finish the story without adding any more footage.

 No.909>>915

A year from now, maybe two Disney will rape or kill some part of it that you hold dear. Some part of you, that you might not know of yet.

There is nothing original, everything Disney makes now of Star Wars isn't an idea from an artist but done from decisions made by focus groups.

On the topic of this thread the largest mistake Rouge One created was why was there only one ship in orbit recieving the Death Star plans? Any large ship with a communications array could have done just as well, and some of these ships actually got away before Vader's Star Destroyer showed up. How does Vader know only this one ship has the plans?

If so why doesn't he just blow it up instead of going over to it as a one man raiding party for some cool shots of him killing troopers?

 No.920>>926

>>918

it's possible the other ships jumped to light speed before receiving the plans, or if there were multiple ships receiving them, they would have been destroyed by vader's star destroyer.

 No.926>>942

Look, if you are on a vessel, that's just been involved in an action against it's enemies (and having been firmly identified as being a participant/present in the action) and those enemies then board the vessel after being shot at by most of the crew…what sort of reaction are you going to have if they find you where, regardless of your position at the time of the battle? If I was a Gestapo officer and I just had to shoot the fuck up a bunch of (say) French resistance people in a car chase, and I tail one distinctive car a-ways and intercept it and Himmler happens to be discovered in it and claiming he did nothing wrong, what the fuck am I supposed to think?

>>920

Are interdiction ships still canon? If they are then there is a ready explanation why they could have been quickly intercepted.

not sure tbh, gonna say yes for now, provided any of them showed up on-screen in the OT. i know there's an interdiction field, which prevents ships from jumping into lightspeed, that could be how they caught up.

And yet… look at how they downplayed TLJ, compared to TFA, in the aftermath of this film. A coworker reckons they might put more oomph into the sidefilms because of this. This would require ousting that harpy, however.
