I don't know about that, possibly he knows more than we would about what goes on and is going on but George specifically did everything outside of Hollywood on purpose. To be honest most fans didn't know what they had when Lucas was in charge, tbh most still don't. That's probably why Lucas let it all go, at the time it was seen that nothing Lucas did fans enjoyed. I think we're all figuring out what we lost, even George now.

It's a mystery. Disney purchases an IP that's proven to print money even with a mediocre output but decides to cut budgets and corners in making anything that isn't a numbered trilogy movie. Lucasfilm, though largely independent, is run by people who want to micromanage multimedia output to the point where even creatives who probably share the political sensibilities of their bosses are starting to chafe and quit. Somehow, though, Star Wars manages to survive much like Marvel and DC endure despite doing everything wrong to turn away their fans. There just seems to be this cultural inertia preserving it and nothing short of a bomb blast ripping apart Lucasfilm can stop it.

I'm pretty neutral regarding that. Lucas and some of the """talent""" hired to write the EU weren't incompetent when it came to defiling Star Wars and signing off on some real clown shit. I will give, though, that at least Big G cared about his little fictional universe in his own way and channeled his auteur egotism into stuff that could reliably entertain. Even if the fans felt entitled to something different from what he wanted, Lucas put his money where and his sweat into stuff. Yeah, Star Wars canned pasta and eraser heads aren't new, but he made sure that the Clone Wars animators had the support and resources they needed to create a nice cartoon. Even if he was a deadline nazi to video games, the LucasArts toybox was pretty much at their full disposal.

With Disney, though, they're only monitoring the financial metrics and not managing Lucasfilm in a manner that even protects their long-term prospects. They don't seem to know the difference between an absentee landlord and plain negligence. Star Wars isn't difficult to understand. It's broadly appealing escapism with ancillary DEEPEST LORE that gives aspies a lot of exploitable sandbox opportunity. I just wonder when somebody is going to realize that allowing failed serious business "creatives" to push their abrasive themes and moods through a geek pastime as a vector is not serving them and reorganization is in order.

Disney knows what’s going on. The easy answer is it’s all about money, but it isn’t. Clearly, they choose virtue signalling at every opportunity over profit. Why they do it is up for debate, but it’s observable. They would rather have positive feels from SJWs than tangible cash.

One floated theory is that Bob Iger wants to be president and sees feminism as his ticket there. I don't want to dismiss this outright a fair amount of /pol/'s paranoia is speculative nonsense but they've been right on enough "coincidences" that it's a good idea to keep an eye on what they say, but the razors of both Hanlon and Occam come to mind.
