Filoni seemed at first not bothered by the Expanded Universe being kill but I think now its really started to set in that he can't do much with what he's allowed to do. Disney doesn't want a real conflict, every episode the rebels defeat the Empire, it gets old rehashing EpIV and EpV for multiple seasons and its breaking Filoni down. He's tried to put in some more force based episodes but I don't think Disney likes those due to international market forces and so they've been drawing it back. Filoni isn't happy and either he'll leave or Disney will make him and then hire a diverse replacement.
Filoni could have done many great things with Clone Wars, especially where it was going from what I can see from the leaks. Coupled with the leaks from 1313 or BF3 it would have been a great age for /sw/. Oh well, that is all lost.

I hope that's true that it's more Disney/Kennedy Lucasfilm hampering it rather than Dave, he always seemed very passionate about Star Wars and I liked that. Rebels has grown on me a bit but it's so horribly formulaic and limited in scope even when it does something interesting like Thrawn.

>Siege of Mandalore that ends right at Order 66 with Ashoka coming back and Rex faking his death
Makes me wonder how much further they were planning to go beyond Clone Wars. A post-Revenge of the Sith series with Vader and the clones hunting the surviving jedi as well as the build up to the rebellion would have been great. They could have tied together so much good stuff from the expanded universe with that.

As far as I know, Darth Revan was supposed to appear with Darth Bane in the Mortis Monolith arc to advise Son but it got cut from the final draft. Them turning up would probably have been one of the less weird parts of that story. They got as far as creating his model, pic related.

most likely, given that it's the clone wars, it can only go as far as right up to the beginning of episode 3 for the most part, except for that siege of mandalore that ends at order 66, so i suppose that would have been the real end, given it was the end of the war itself.

>A SEVEN EPISODE long arc just for Ventress and giving you info about what exactly happened to her
Ventress is not nearly interesting enough to warrant seven fucking episodes to wrap up her story. It would end up even worse than Darth Maul getting resurrected for no goddamn reason just to end up having multiple episodes wasted on him and Savage fucking about, especially since Filoni had almost as much of a hard-on for her character as he did for his waifu Ahsoka.
>Siege of Mandalore that ends right at Order 66 with Ashoka coming back and Rex faking his death
Sounds really fucking stupid. Ahsoka's story wrapped up once she left the Order, her coming back just ends up undermining any marginal impact her leaving had on Anakin and Anakin's entire character arc after that.
>More Bad Batch episodes that explain why Yoda is on good terms with the wookies
>said episode also shows us cyborg Echo has joined them

>a fucking yuuzhan vong episode about a scouting party showing up during the clone wars
FUCKING WHY? Nobody liked the Yuuzhan Vong, most of the EU tried its hardest to forget they exist after that shitfest of a saga, why does Filoni insist on resurrecting shit ideas?
Overall, I'm not too torn up about CW's cancellation. It was already kind of slipping by season 5, I imagine it would've only gotten worse if it kept going.

>Nobody liked the Yuuzhan Vong, most of the EU tried its hardest to forget they exist after that shitfest of a saga
Is that why they were mentioned in KOTOR, the legacy comics and almost every book taking place after the vong series? If Lucasfilm was trying to make fans forget about vong then they were doing a poor job because their writers seemed intent on tying it in to everything.
I don't miss the vong but I'd take them over this bland First Order thing that Disney has come up with. I think a one off appearance in Clone Wars would have been entertaining at least.

I binge watched the whole thing 3 years ago. It's pretty hit or miss. The first 3 seasons are average to mediocre with the only good thing about them being the clone episodes because they feel like some army soldier dramas in space. The last 3 seasons see more improvement but still have their fair share of flaws and continuity errors (even within the show's own canon), and it does add a lot of more serious subjects like showing that the Separatists are more than just generic bad guys and Ahsoka's character finally becomes non-irritating (even having a fanservice episode where she gets her own slave outfit) and Obi-Wan's character gets some nice development too, but those final seasons are also the whole Maul/Dathomir shilling which come off as awkward, but result in some really interesting fights. Surprisingly, the episode I most enjoyed was the one where Jar Jar and Windu team up and it's implied that he may be a more complex character than initially realized. Overall, the best episodes were the ones that never got finished, like vid-related.
