Disney and Lucasfilm must be in a fucking panic right now. It won't flop, but they're going to be feeling the same heat as Lucas. Even worse actually, as Lucas only had to finish III while this gravy train was supposed to be the new MCU. Barely to the third movie and Disney's SW is already falling apart at the seams. I think this could end up being a bigger disaster than Justice League in terms of damage to their franchise.

For a brief time in the mid 90s, me and some friends played that old tabletop Star Wars RPG by West End games. I remember being a Jedi wasn't much of an option, since you could only be a fallen or hermit Jedi. But it did have this rule that stated any non-jedi that held a lightsaber would end up chopping off their own limbs unless they were at least somewhat force sensitive. non force sensitives simply could not do more than just turn it on, even. Of course, none of this is canon so…

I don't know about Fett, but I know in the West End games, it was said that Solo was force-sensitive, and that it manifested not in his ability to use the force, but in that the force used him. That's why he was able to pull off such high-risk, low possibility escapes and maneuvers.

I wished I had stuck with the comics and EU longer. I was heavy into it during highschool, around 94. Read Zahn's novels, read up to the Jedi Academy trilogy, then lost interest. Still have some of those dark horse graphic novels, like the one that dealt with Nomi Sunrider and Thon. But never saw the one you speak of. I'll have to look for it.

Bob Iger and the rest of the other head honchos at Disney at a hand in it as well. There's an interview I saw a clip of on YT, where JJ & Iger talk about making TFA, and Iger basically told JJ what he wanted to see & had the final say in what finally appeared on screen. This is what you can expect with a film made by committee with a diversity agenda/quota to fill.

I actually heard a rumor that the script was edited like that to punish J.J. Abrams. Apparently he tried to sneak in making Fin the main character with piecemeal changes after Disney producers told him they wouldn't make a black man the real main hero because it wouldn't sell in the Asian market. When he tried to surreptitiously shove Rey and Poe further out of the spotlight, they ordered the minstrel show tropes get peppered in just to remind Abrams who has the biggest nose.

Probably bullshit, but it's a fun story I like to perpetuate.
