>Use the force to cut the power to the hallway

>Unsheath lightsaber

>Just stand there

Why

Why didnt he just start attacking them

 No.1753

Dramatic entrance, duh.

 No.1755>>1761 >>1809

To make the rebels afraid. To imbalance them emotionally and use their terror to empower himself.

Dark Side 101.

I can't agree because he didn't get the plans, had he wiped them out quicker there would have been no EpIV.

Face it, that's the only 'cool" memorable scene in the movie and it doesn't even make sense because in EpIV Vader and his Imperials believe the information was "beamed" to the ship and might be in its computer.

Perhaps Vader doesn't even know these rebels have the Death Star plans?

It is the Star Wars Universe equivalent of the power stance. His next line would have been along the line of "Bothan Spy, I'm Sith!" as well as "This flight plan I just filled with the Empire lists me, my Stormtroopers, my prisoner here but none of you! First one to talk gets to stay on my blockade runner!"

 No.1788>>1789

Maybe he was assessing the situation, doing the mental math. Also, he was actually in a defensive position. He stood there for about a second, then the rebels fired, so he could deflect those blasters. They were cornered, he dominated the battlefield.

What was weird is that he took his sweet time to butcher the rebels instead of going directly for the guy with the tapes (he could just yanked with the Force).

It was part of his plan to let them escape.

 No.1801

>>1761

I don't think he knows where they are but he can sense they are somewhere on the ship. Hence why he didn't just go for the guy immeadiately. It makes sense dark room mask, blaster bolts. No way you could see the little disk. Same way he could sense it in a new hope but couldn't find it.

But that's bullshit anon, If he wanted to make them afraid he would have never turn on his saber and just crushed the hallway in complete darkness with the only glimmer of light coming from the doorways window and the shadow of vader breathing menacingly on the other end of the hall as he watches them hopelessly trying too pry the door open…

To take a moment to enjoy the sense of their fear.

 No.4720

ITT autistically arguing about a fictional characters motives for what amounts to a visual scene for mood in a fucking movie for children
