I've passed beyond anger and moved into downright depressing. Did plebbit and twatter invade when The Farce Awakens came out?

Probably, but I'm willing to believe a lot of them genuinely think it's good.

A lot of people are willing to overlook all the problems with the recent movies because they're supposedly better than the prequels.

The Dark Side of the Force has clouded their vision, my friend.

This was the /tv/ catalog the day the first TFA trailer came out so it's amazing how far they've drifted since then. A lot of the more critically minded users probably came with us on the exodus and now old /tv/ is full of newfags and "community outreach" corporate marketing shills.

Most Star Wars fans never really cared about the EU that much. Usually they picked and chose a la carte what they wanted to acknowledge as canon and had no understanding of or interest in learning about the uniquely massive profile of Star Wars lore.

To them Star Wars was the OT, a few popular video games, and maybe some of the higher acclaimed novels like the Thrawn trilogy. Eventually it'll get to be that way with Disney stuff too.
