What'll you do when he dies? Will you have the same reaction as when Spock passed away?

It’ll be sad, but I’ll accept it. Shatner’s already won at life. He was captain of the Enterprise, had a long career afterward of other projects than Star Trek, called Wil Wheaton a fuckhead, visited /x/ and /tv/ and /pol/ (probably visited /pol/) and had lots of money, kids, and wives.
He can go on to the hereafter and ask God what he needs with a starship.

Scotty was trapped in the transporter buffer and latter rescued by the Enterprise-D in TNG before the events of Generations, but after the events on the Enterprise-B, and states his belief that Kirk is still alive. What did Scotty know that we didn't?

Worst fucking death.
At least at the beginning of the movie he "died" a hero, running down to the deflector dish and bravely swapping some of those little circuit boards around, but he saved a ton of people and the Enterprise B. The galaxy thanked him by taking him to paradise.
Kirk was right, the galaxy did owe him one. He should have told Picard to fuck off.

It was a false paradise, where nothing he did mattered at all, where nothing was real. He realized that, himself, and was immediately bored with the entire idea.

I shouldn't admit this, but I actually read a star trek novel written by shatner himself where the borg steal his corpse after the events of generations. he breaks out of the borg collective consciousness via sheer force of will because he is captain kirk of course, gets ahold of the enterprise A from a museum, and then fights the borg in one last desperate battle.
it's cheese but it's the kind you would actually want.

I remember seeing that on a bookshelf once. Supposedly the Borg got a little scarier. Also, Kirk gets a girl (as he is wont to do). Now imagine having this story read to you by the man himself.

but I thought that was a different star trek book he had written. admittedly, it's been years since I read it.

he's resurrected by the Borg/Romulan alliance. They use him as the winter soldier until he breaks his programming, meets Spock RoboMcCoy and Julian fucking Bashir then throws the shutdown switch on the Borg planet after knocking Picard out because he wanted to throw the Alt-F4 switch because he was suicidal.
THEN in the next book he comes back to life through the power of fucking Kirk, meets up with this Klingon-Romulan bitch he fucked two books prior and saves their planet.

Shatner is surprisingly lucid for an old man who was on a goofy tv show in the 60s. Like he admitted to browsing 4chan and was on two successful television shows after Star Trek (both of which lasted longer. TJ Hooker and Boston Legal. The latter of which even won him Emmys)
People make fun of Shatner a lot and generally the fanbase scoffs at him and prefers Nimoy. But the guy was genuinely successful in life (much moreso than Nimoy who was typecast after Star Trek and was only really well known for voice over work after it)
While I think Nimoy was technically a superior actor Shatner was significantly more entertaining and had a much greater screen presence. There's a reason why fans tend to cast themselves as Kirk in fan films. People want to be that goofy but charismatic hero who journeys through the galaxy. And I think long after his inevitable death people will still want to embody him.

Star Trek exists in an alternate timeline where WW3 was fought in the 1990s and was about genetically altered supermen. Khan was a thing at the time.
