So everyone hangs out on /startrek/ now? Is it just for the name? I didn't want to give captain butthurt any posts.
445e09 No.8814
I'd add we're way higher in the listing than /startrek is/. We're at like 33 and they're at like 99. So I guess I was wrong. I visited there a little bit after Mr, Assdamage acquired it and wasn't very impressed.

Apples and oranges, I for my part post at both places. This is the board for the spergs, and the other is for the shitposters, and I'm 50/50.
44fa30 No.8832
shit I didn't even know there was another trek board.
90b5f4 No.8838
shouldnt /startrek/ have to change their name or title or whatever since if they use "Star Trek" as well it causes confusion in places like the Active Boards listing on the 8chan front page?
the short-term confusion sucks, but eventually it will sort itself out. it would be nice if /startrek/ would declare themselves for nu-trek and std, but i doubt that's likely.

Yes. He couldn't handle his short little ban, so he made a board with MORE rules. This is the kind of retard that runs /startrek/.
Also someone put /trek/ in for the hunger games, so this week's hunger games will have all three Star Trek boards competing.

Pick one. The forums are full of austists that try and figure out the power levels of sci fi factions. Bringing up 40k or Time Lords is sure to inspire a tism fit, otherwise the Empire wins. I visit once a year or so to figure out if a sci fi show is worth watching.

A user by the name of Connor Macleod once did a massive series of 40k calculations that put them at fairly high amounts of power. Years later he got pissed at being associated with them, and now drones on with solipsist garbage about how nothing can be proven because of variable exmaples and blah blah blah, and is now a moderator on a former SciFi discussion and communtiy site, Spacebattles. It's now a tumblrific propaganda outlet masquerading as a hobby and fanfic site.

This. Most account-holders are lurkers 90% of the time that watch other people post. As they start reading the flame wars that pop up, they start "siding" with one high postcount sperglord or the other. Eventually they build up the courage to chime in and repeat whatever their pet namefag says, and start molding their opinions to match "le based forum veteran xD," and participate in whatever retarded shit they're kvetching about now with even more volume.
It's basically what you'd get if you crossed reality TV with Twitch Plays Pokemon.

Social media was designed for the Internet from years ago, where it was a luxury, and if you wanted to be online at all you needed to have your shit together enough to have a job, and a pretty good one. Back then, if you got free net access, you were either in higher ed, or smart enough to work for an ISP.
Since the system was designed for these people, it had no defense against subsidized crazy people staying home and posting high volumes of nonsense all day.
Thanks, Obamaphone.

I once got banned for saying I didn't like flamers.
Funny thing is, I was quoting ike Wong word for word. from his blog, one of the pages. You also can't really argue for stay at home mothers.
Which Wong all but advocates for in his introductory to his blog.
http://www.stardestroyer.net/Mike/category/blog/
Read and enjoy. And I have never had a satifactory answer as to when exactly the site died, but I do know that if you make an account and get to see the hiden board where they roast people, you will find a thread where they roast one of their own and keep calling him a virgin until he quits the site. For fun.
A lot of people like to point the time that Wong banned about 7 people and permadeleted at least on account in its entirety, DestructionatorXIII I think, and claim thats what killed it. But at that point it still struggled to maintain 100 people logged in.
I'd like to theorize that SDN died like it did because of the supremely ban happy nature of the mods, and the occasionally absurd rule sets of debate and the anti fun attitude of everyone.
