So, the legions of soyboys want princess Leia of the Reddit Wars franchise to be recast. Front runner atm is Maryl Streep (!). I think Marina Sirtis would be a better fit as she looks more like Leia. Better actor, too. I'm however not sure if I want this. Would you approve of this? Could we consider this as a win over sw?

She's too old to play Leia, but Sirtis isn't and looks about right.

At this point though there really isn't anything they can do to make the next Star Wars watchable because it's gone off the rails and the property has been mishandled. They were handed all the details to outline a decent Solo story but after the shitfests Disney has created so far I know they'll fuck it up, the only reason I want to see it is to see how badly and what poor choices were made.

Anyway, recasting Leia is a bad idea and I doubt the Mouse will do it, but Sirtis could do fine if they need enough scenes to give her a send-off. As long as they don't go the CGI route, that always looks shit.

well, on one hand the british accent that Leia had for the first five minutes of ANH would likely return… especially if she knew she specificially wasn't supposed to have it. On the other hand, Marina Sirtis can't act. So, yeah.. it would be pottery if they didn't give her much to do in the movie and just needed someone for the role.

My criticisms were strictly for her acting, as you lads are quite correct that she's in that rare class of women who became sexier as a cougar than she was when she was in her 20's. Very rare, indeed she mostly just figured-out how to into straight hair and the right makeup… and dressing to make the most of her figure… she has the curvaceous body of a mexican housekeeper who fucked a fire hydrant tbqh… still sexy though. she knows how to work it.

It's the vocal delivery in early EPs of TNG as well. Butt yes, a lot of the empath counselor lines are just bad. A relic of the 90s that did not age as well as her cougar body. In Gargoyles her voice sounds huskier and deeper, not sure if that's studio assisted or her doing it naturally but it sounds better to my ears at least.

one of my favorite bits of trivia about tng was that she was originally auditioned for the role of Tasha Yar… Gene was infatuated with Vasquez from Aliens and wanted to clone her for the show. I honestly think Marina Sertis would have played that character better than Troi…. and if Denise Crosby took the role of Troi, the whole stupid 'ship's counselor' gimmick would have died with her in Skin of Evil as well as memory-holing the blatent rip-off of Decker/Illia.

Not sure what would have become of Worf as the series sorted itself out, but Marina would have gotten a better deal, i think.
