Leeta's a complete ditz. Bashir is WAY too fucking good for her, even when he's being a pompous vacuous narcissist that lacks any semblance of common sense. She's also only pretty because she's had cosmetic surgery (and no amount of that will make a girl pretty on the inside). They're a perfect match.

Also, your opinion of Rom's looks are completely irrelevant, given that you're not into guys (I assume) and don't exist in a universe where Ferengi do.

To be fair she didn't know what slug she would be getting when she applied for the program. She just knew she'd be getting access to multiple lifetimes worth of memories, experience, and skill. On top of that only the creme de la creme of Trill are even considered for joining, so the mere fact that you're good enough to be selected is a pretty nice feather in your cap. I don't believe Jadzia knew she would be getting Dax, and if even if she did, is the slutty nature of that slug really common knowledge?

Considering that at least one of the previous hosts was a colossal embarrassment for the Symbiosis Commission and a murderer at that, and that Curzon was a well known womaniser, whoremonger, and housebreaker I would suggest that he should have been put up for extensive psychological and medical review before being assigned a new host. Actually, looking at the timeline and host list, Dax only seems to have gone off the rails after the Joran host. Could becoming the SlutSlug have been some kind of psychological coping mechanism that helped with having to hold the stored consciousness of a narcissistic psychopath who should never have been cleared for joining?

Hmm, you might have a point there. We know that whatever therapy they used to suppress Joran's memories wasn't effective. The external effects only started coming up in Jadzia's time, but who knows how long it's been fucking with the symbiont's subconscious. Add to that Joran is the only host Dax has had that wasn't approved by the commission, and thus even without the murder is very psychologically different from the other hosts.

They were right about limiting the access of symbionts only to proper hosts but they fucked up pretty hard in dealing with it when their system fucks up. When Joran happened they just swept it all under the rug and pretended nothing happened.

Well, we don't really have enough data about Trill Symbiont neurology to really draw a hard and fast answer. There's no reason to suggest that a human treatment, like talking therapy, would work on the different brain in a symbiont. The fact that they're neurologically and biochemically compatible with a humanoid species would suggest that there should be some overlap with human psychology. However the fact that the symbiont can store a currently unknown number of humanoid lifetimes and consciousnesses tells us that their brains are different enough that they may need an entirely novel form of treatment. Given that the unjoined Trill seem to practically worship the damned things researching their brains (including the biopsies and dissections that would involve) might be tricky.
