Laughed out loud when I read OP.

In every Star Trek series the crew stops by Earth at least a couple times, did you believe that they were flying all the way to another galaxy, never bothering to explore nearby stars along the way?

Most of Star Trek takes place within less than a quarter of the Milky Way, though as everyone knows VOY traveled to the otherside of the Milky Way and in one shitty episode for season 1 TNG, Picard and crew briefly visited the Andromeda or Triangulum galaxy.
