I'm not exactly Voyager's biggest fan or anything, but this was one of the coolest one-off characters in all of ST. Even the Voyager episode (Bliss) wasn't half bad. (Just a standard Man vs Beast conflict, but still a breath of fresh air at the tail end of a series filled with mediocrity.)

They should have brought that guy on board and booted Neelix at the nearest habitable planet.

>habitable

You wouldn't keep him in stasis until they came across that Y-class planet?

eb7493 No.20651

He was particularly great because of his voice, he really sounded like a grizzled old sea captain/dump truck driver

I remember this episode, Star Trek: Generations did it better.

>>20651

If you like him the man who played Red on That 70s Show also appeared on VOY, I didn't recognize him at first because of the generic alien shit on his face, but I recognized his annoyed voice. If you've going to commend actors on their voices though none can beat da Vinci

He's good, I do have a soft spot for da maestro. But is he "The Question" level good.

I am disappointed.

Why did they reduce Gowron to being a lousy jealous chancellor when he had been a complicated and yet still singularly Klingon character?

9664a6 No.21000

>>20990

When DS9 was airing the fans got a massive hardon for Martok so they had to shoehorn some reason for him to become Chancellor by the series finale.

Martok sucked. He’s a fucking lame brawling viking dwarf character

DS9 had stupid fans, like the retarded ‘lol pimp hand Sisko’ meme.

15209f No.21048

>>21029

Martok didn't suck. He called Worf on his shit a few times. Added another dimension to the Klingons. He just wasn't Gowron

9664a6 No.21069

>>21029

>He’s a fucking lame brawling viking dwarf character

Nothing wrong with that, provided it's done right, and the writers acknowledge the limits of such a character. Unfortunately due to fan-wankery DS9's staff did neither, though I appreciated the character in spite of that. But like >>21048 says, he sure as hell is no Gowron.

This thread got me thinking, considering there is so many space entities out there would a Star Trek whaling series work?

2d024d No.21167

Basically just a full series dedicated to the Hirogen could accomplish this. Those fuckers went hunting 8472, who were the only species to bring the Borg to their knees without time-travel fuckery and plot contrivances. What's hunting giant space-whales next to that.

I don't care what you think; on the Hirogen home planet is some King who's got the head of a Q mounted over his door. Don't ask how he managed that… you don't want to know.

This is only slightly less wanked than Mandalorians, so you might want to reconsider.

Only 7/9 fags who suffered through Voyager will understand that reference.

>>21336

Should report to the punishment thread for that.

2d024d No.21427

>>21368

Most should get the reference, considering one of the episodes it features in is the objectively best episode of the series.

Also, merely writing it is punishment enough, thank you.

Why doesn't every ship in Starfleet have an ECH?

166ba8 No.21512

>>21511

Same reason every ship isn't crewed entirely by exo-comps and a central computer: Starfleet is meant primarily as an outlet for humanoid LARPers who aren't satisfied with the bread-and-circuses replimat-and-holodecks on their home planet. Giving them all uniforms and telling them to fuck off and explore is easier and more productive than trying to quell the potential insurrections they might launch.

Also, is it just me or does the Hierarchy GUI seem like a tweaked copy-paste of the Cardassian one?

>>21512

How can you not be satisfied with replimats and holodecks? You can do literally anything you want and some people want to get blown up by consoles and shot by the villainous species of the week.

fbc4fb No.21553

>>21546

Not everyone is satisfied being a NEET, and being a non-NEET in a world of NEETs gains you prestige, influence, and a whole lot of non-holographic pussy.

a5001d No.21566

>>21553

That's not what NEET means, anon.

166ba8 No.21568

>Not in Education, Employment, or Training

Spending your life doing nothing but recreation on the holodeck and getting food from the replicator seems pretty textbook to me.

dbe7c7 No.21570

>>21553

Well they're fucking retarded then, throw 'em all out of an airlock and leave me the fuck alone in my holodeck please.

a5001d No.21575

>>21568

Even if I got bored, I'd accidentally learn something from the holodeck. I'd pull a Papa Sisko and go run a restaurant just for shits and giggles. Jerking off all day gets boring, you know.

bb92d7 No.21628

>>21575

>Papa Sisko's

I could imagine that being a franchise.

6e3d98 No.21638

>>21575

Just because you learn things doesn't mean you need to put them to any practical use, and jerking off is a waste of a good holodeck.

f39097 No.21642

>>21568

Since the Federation doesn't have currency, it's not really POSSIBLE to be "employed" in a sense we think about. If you're in Starfleet, sure one could say that you're employed, but what if you write holonovels? In our world you either write good shit and can afford a living wage, or you don't and have to get a job doing something else. In Trek, if you write garbage fanfiction that nobody reads, you're doing as much work as someone who writes bestsellers, but are you still "employed"?

a5001d No.21648

>>21638

Learning things by definition does not make you a NEET. A NEET literally does nothing but sit around consuming media all day like a true subhuman piece of shit. Spending all day sparring in holodecks with nude Greco-roman statues is a better use of your time than being a NEET.

166ba8 No.21649

>>21648

Learning shit =! education in the traditional sense. 'Education' implies something formal and institutionalized. You can technically learn something from consuming media all day like a true subhuman piece of shit. Even if all you're learning is "Primary sources depicting recent history of first-world contemporary reality television" or something completely useless it's still learning, but not education.
