I wish they'd keep the concept as taboo as possible. When it's used for a fan service episode so characters from an old series can interact with the new series, that's okay.. Cheesy, but okay.

Time travel where they are playing with multiple parallel timelines, paradoxes, predestination, and fluid timeline bullshit? For fuck's sake STOP. Time travel so they can make a soap boxy narrative about the civil rights movement or some other historic period? FUCK NO.

However.. Time travel that involves nazis and cowboys and other silly shit, literally just because the production team realized they had access to the studio's wardrobe from other movies and they thought it would be funny? I can live with that.

Lazy filler episodes for hack writers who were out of ideas.

Time's Arrow was good, mostly because it focused on the correct time travel theory, that the timeline is fixed, and the repercussions of any excursions to the past are already being felt. Most other time-travel episodes were fairly lazy and tedious.

There's no way to write a (backward) time travel story without introducing paradoxes, if you actually take the time to think about what happened. I understand the appeal, and it's so ingrained into science fiction at this point that I don't think we'll ever see the end of it, but I really don't like it. I prefer when sci fi just avoids the conversation altogether. Hell, Enterprise might have been ok without any of that time travel bullshit; I liked the premise and the design.

That's true of most sci-fi. With time travel as a convention you can just borrow sets from other tv shows I mean have magical adventures in exotic locales through-out time and it doesn't matter because time travel allows it.

That's "Time's Arrow" which has been mentioned several times already as one of the good episodes, which it is because the twist in the episode is revealed at the start. Everything already happened and everything else they'd done up to that point to try and stop it just made it happen. Singular timeline. Predestination. Nice and simple.

Just watched "Little green men", was pretty lame, and usiually i love any episode with quark in it, but it was so stupid especially how they shoe horned Odo in, and i fuckin love Odo

I expect autism but there is actually a bit TOO MUCH autism ITT. A lot of/most things in Trek make no sense if you think about them. The only one that bugs me is the episode with Frasier, because apparently hitting a time warp while your ship explodes just sends your mind back in time (and erases your memory?), rather than the flaming wreckage of the ship. But it was still a cool episode!

Come to think of it they really fucking overdid it with time travel episodes on Trek. Like every series had one and it each time it happened they were usually terrible episodes.

I don't hate them as much as the alternate universe episodes or the "crew member becomes evil for some reason" episodes
