That mass effect thing is something I just don't get.
People talking about how great and well made that universe is, yet one of the major races is entirely female, can breed with any other species and has a biological quirk that makes any member of the species who has both its parents come from that species, be degenerate with a possible genetic error that instantly kills anyone they fuck…
How the fuck did this species evolve to do that?
The galactic community is engaged in an ongoing genocide against one of its own members, which even they don't seem to mind all that much, seeing as they are still members of said community.
The galaxy is regularly scoured by giant machines that have no reason to compete with organics for room and for some unexplained reason need organic material to make more giant machines. But the dumbest part of this process is that the robots don't just grow what they need with the equivalent of cows or meat grown in vats, preferring instead to slumber for millennia before waging costly wars against whatever organics have build civilisations in the mean time.
The reapers don't even explain why all organics die without a trace, since the galaxy should be absolutely littered with the ruins of past civilisations they have wiped out and would have no real way of guaranteeing they actually wiped out all organics, since their FTL transportation system doesn't actually reach all planets, only the ones connected to the relays and any one of those connected systems could have habitats or colonies the reapers missed to not only rapidly recolonise the now empty galaxy, but also retain their tech level and know enough about the reapers to prepare for the next cycle, with 50.000 years to prepare.
The mass effect universe is full of this kind of bad logic. So why is it everyone seems to love it?
