I've seen a study suggesting that public opinion of Islam goes up not down in the wake of Islamic terrorist attacks. Hillary's poll numbers have gone up in the last few days and Trump's betting odds have gone down. People respect shows of strength, so respect Muslims and their allies (leftists). As Trump is not in a position of power yet he can't actually demonstrate strength in a practical sense.

This theory would also suggest the the Dylan Roof shootings probably increased the popularity of White nationalism, which seems possible given the state of /pol/ but I'm too lazy to research it in more detail.

(Pic unrelated)

 No.6408

The standard controversy over each Islamic terrorist attack is "do we blame Islam, or is that Problematic and Islamophobic and Wrong?" - isn't it more likely to be leftists rallying against Islamophobia after each attack causing the rise in public opinion? Doesn't require as much psychologizing, at least, since it rests on people believing what they say they believe.

Of course, these studies are frequently bogus, so my real theory is "mu".

Dallas shooting will probably also help BLM/Black Power movements (contrary to what people (on the right at least) will say about it).

Short run, maybe.

Long run, it'll be the eighties and "tough on crime" all over again. Except with drones.

 No.6411

>>6410

The normalization of murder drones by police is going to turn out to be the most consequential impact of this shooting.

 No.6412

>>6411

It seems possible that "murder drones" (to go with their murderguns and murderfists and murderdonuts) could actually reduce police killing by allowing them to confront belligerent suspects in a way that doesn't personally threaten them - no need for an itchy trigger finger if it's the drone that might get shot rather than you.

I for one, completely endorse murder-drones. As with nukes, if we didn't have them first and best, the Enemy would.

OTOH, we ain't exactly saints. So here's hoping we can become a better hegemon before we abuse any more of the power we've seized.

 No.6414

Of course terrorist attacks are good for Hillary. The current narrative is that terrorist attacks are white peoples fault for being insufficiently progressive.

If OP's theory was consistently right, then the police murdering more people would make them more popular, but the opposite has happened.

 No.6416

I think there's a difference between aggression that comes across as "bullying" vs. "heroic (albeit evil) self-sacrifice".

(Also I'm not sure the premise that police are more unpopular now is true but I'm too lazy to research it).

 No.6417

>>6415

I think there's a difference between things that can be seen as heroic from the attacker's perspective (eg most suicide attacks) vs. things that just come across as bullying (unnecessary police killings).

Hmm double post because I didn't see my first reply even after refreshing.

 No.6419

the fact Trump's numbers are higher than ever is strong evidence to the contrary, op.

 No.6420

>>6419

Possibly, though there are other factors that could contribute to that (eg Clinton being perceived as being unfairly let off during the email scandal)

 No.6421

>>6420

Also I'll admit that my model here is probably too simplistic, I mostly posted it because I often see people have a model like "violence/terrorism never works because it causes a backlash" which is also too simplistic - sometimes the supposed backlash never materializes.
