Anonymous image boards are superorganisms with their own utility functions separate from yours.
Imagine if a member of the Exxon Mobil board of directors decided to convert to communism. He wouldn't sway the corporate philosophy, he would be replaced by someone who will make profit for the shareholders. This is the nature of superorganisms.
What does a social network where shame and ostracizing are impossible select for? People with no disgust reflex, opinions which are disliked by the rest of the rationalist community (even though we already make a strong effort to be very tolerant of other opinions), and a high tolerance for shitposting.
Does anyone really expect anything good to come of this board? After the format's inherent selection pressures have been applied over a sufficient amount of time, is this board expected to be anything other than a steaming pile of shit?
Congrats OP, you are the first thing in the universe with the gift of foresight, and you blew it lifting Moloch to heaven. Were the memes worth it?
