What do about the lopsided gender ratio in the rationalist community?

 No.5765

i agree this is a problem, we really need to figure out how to attract more dudes who are going to stay dudes.

does anybody know anything we can focus on to attract cis guys more without leaving our wheelhouse? (or getting some of the AFAB people to transition, i'm not picky)

 No.5766

don't tradcaths and moslem attract women by being as 'misogynistic' as possible?

Yah, fact that many of our "women" are just men who cut dick off just making things worse.

 No.5769

Unless you're just looking for holes to stick your dick in, we shouldn't do anything.

As far as I know the gender imbalance mirrors that of the general population, and so that implies we are getting the same ratio of competent people as in the general population.

If it doesn't actually properly mirror the general population, where are all of the smart girls? Because what is between their legs is what counts here.

Figure out how to find clusters of vaginas with the kind of brain we want, and then A/B test strategies to bring them into our glorious cult.

One of the cruel ironies of gender transition is that people usually transition so they can stop being reminded they have a penis.

Meanwhile their entire sexual fandom is obsessed with the fact that they have a penis.

When I searched for IQ vs sex, the only thing that seems to come up is some diagram of "IQ scores in Scotland, 1932", and the curve is kindof noisy. Apparently this was a big study of 11-year-olds; looking up the numbers, the "Moray House Test" scores were (avg=46.7 sd=11.6) for women and (avg=46.9 sd=12.7) for men.

Surely there has been a bazillion IQ tests done since, which should show the effect more clearly.

For instance, the SAT is supposedly basically an IQ test, so we should be able to see it there. I couldn't find a table of percentiles (and I should be working, not wasting time on 8ch), but a quick google found this paper about the 1985 SAT results: https://research.collegeboard.org/sites/default/files/publications/2012/11/researchreport-1988-9-sex-differences-sat-scores.pdf

They say the verbal results were (avg=436 sd=111) for women and (avg=448 sd=113) for men, while the math results were (avg=457 sd=108) for women and (avg=510 sd=118) for men.

So the difference in variation seems even more pronounced in the SAT scores than the Scotish scores, although the means do not behave the same way either.

Anyway, I'm sure someone somewhere has a better analysis than a couple of minutes on google…

 No.5782

>>5781

Er, or rather the Scotish numbers and the Mat SAT seem about the same, the difference in variation in verbal SAT seems smaller. I got the numbers from https://www.gwern.net/docs/iq/2004-deary.pdf by the way.

i hadn't heard of this before, and it's kind of blowing my mind and explaining the relationships (or lackthereof) i've had with a lot of women.

 No.5784

>>5781

The different behavior of the mean makes sense; there's a filter before you even get to the point of taking the SAT which excludes the lowest IQ part of the population. A literal drooling retard is not going to be evaluating their prospecive university admissions.

 No.5785

>>5784

Also, I guess the scores will be cut off at the high end, by people who max out. If so, that would bias both the average and mean a bit, but I'm not sure how strong the effect is.

I'd like to see the actual distribution of the scores, rather than just the mean and sd. I wonder it's possible to fit a normal distribution around the mode, and see if the (hypothetical) cut-off effects are visible.

I don't understand what the text means, at all. I tried:

lesbian sheep syndrome (from urbandictionary): The circumstance of two women being romantically and/or sexually attracted to each other, but neither acting upon it because they're waiting for the other to make the first move.

…. But from this to gender roles is completely a non-sequitur? And is a "lesbian" here a MtF person attracted to *tF and F ?

 No.5787

>>5786

bc the female gender role apparently includes passivity in relationships.

and yes, "lesbian" here means a woman who is attracted to other woman. why, what does it usually mean.

>>5772

What does that image mean?

>>5787

You're going to have to be a lot more explicit than that.

 No.5789

>>5788

the way i've heard it explained is that women often conform to a role–specifically, a gender role, the female one–in which they do not initiate relationships, but wait for the other person to initiate them, whereas men often conform to a role in which they initiate relationships. thus, a lesbian may wait for people interested in her to make advances, but most of the other lesbians are *also* waiting for others to make advances.

if you're talking about the meaning of lesbian, it refers to women who are attracted to women. the term lesbian is normally used to refer to women who are attracted to women. and yes, the group women is typically understood to include trans women.

in the image, the asker is asking whether there's a connection between that, the high number of trans women in the community, and the thing where there are lonely nerdy boys. the answerer is jokingly claiming that some of those lonely nerd "boys" are in fact lesbian trans women who have not yet realized it, and that they are suffering from lesbian sheep syndrome, which is the thing i've just explained. the next poster says that this is actually true. the third and final poster is saying that this is part of the way she realized she was trans. she heard that there were men who didn't initiate relationships, and were unhappy that there was a gender norm expecting them to do so, but couldn't escape it by not being men. she realized she was like this, but she had no reason to keep trying to be a man, and this is part of how she realized she was trans.
