The important choice everyone must make for themselves is not in deciding how God made everything, but in choosing to trust in the Creator regardless of the details. Evolution is largely just a philosophy that men have adopted in order to avoid having to justify their own godlessness. Evil knows what its end is, but it desires to avoid it and the theories we see as a result of this are things like evolution and singularity.
I believe that the purpose of this imperfect creation is as a staging area for the perfect creation. That God created a place where people could choose to embrace or reject him of their own freewill. Embracing God is our consent to enter into a perfect Universe devoid of evil choices. Freewill, eternal life, and a Universe as grand as this one all in one.
What we see in this Universe though is a reflecting of both God's nature (good) and the antithesis of his nature (evil). The later will come to an abrupt end, but until then evolution and other philosophies men have dreamed up to avoid accepting God will continue to proliferate.
Until then I would suggest to those who are inclined rather than attack them on their theories continue to expose them for what they are. Philosophies with absolutely no 'end game.' If the abyss is what they seek, there they shall find it.
