LOCATION(S): The Obamas stayed in Rancho Mirage at the home of outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Spain James Costos and his husband, interior designer Michael Smith, who's been the White House decorator since 2008, the celebrity news site TMZ reported. The house is inside the Thunderbird Heights gated community. Obama has stayed at the home four times during his presidency. Obama's motorcade visited the Thunderbird Country Club gym, where the former president has been known to exercise, on Sunday and Monday mornings. He spent about five hours on Saturday at Porcupine Creek, the walled compound of Oracle founder Larry Ellison where Obama has golfed on several occasions.

PURPOSE: Vacation.

NOTE 1: A flight-tracking website showed the plane the Obamas boarded Monday headed from Palm Springs to the British Virgin Islands. The plane carried branding for Virgin Galactic, the spaceflight company founded by Richard Branson, who owns an island in the British Virgin Islands and built a resort there.

NOTE 2: Michelle was seen boarding a private jet owned by Sir Richard Branson. Barack was not seen boarding the same plane.

NOTE 3: According to DailyMail.com, Barack visited the Thunderbird Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, on Monday morning and was not seen again until his arrival in the Virgin Islands. "Tom Nolan, the airport's executive director, later confirmed that the former president also departed Monday morning but it's not clear whether the couple left together."

NOTE 4: According to DailyMail.com, "James Costos and his husband, interior designer Michael Smith posted a selfie from inside Air Force One while it circled," prior to landing in Palm Springs. Apparently, they accompanied the Obamas on their flight from Washington, D.C.

LOCATION(S): Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport, located on Beef Island. Trellis Bay. Necker Island, owned by Richard Branson. Moskito (Mosquito) Island, owned by Richard Branson. Anegada Island for lunch at Cow Wreck Bar and Grill located in the island’s capital city, The Settlement.

PURPOSE: Vacation.

NOTE 1: Mr Obama and his wife Michelle were greeted at the airport by a selected few Heads of Department, Police Commissioner Michael Matthews and elected officials. The Premier's Office and local officials are tight-lipped on his vacation itinerary while in the British Overseas Territory.

NOTE 2: Barack and Michelle stayed at Moskito Island. The couple spent most of their time on the exclusive island and did not interact with the local community or the political class outside of a photo opp with Governor John S. Duncan OBE and Mrs Duncan and Premier and Minister of Finance Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith (AL) and Mrs Lorna G. Smith OBE.

NOTE 3: On Tuesday January 31, 2017 the Obamas flew in Mr Branson’s helicopter and took a trip from the private island to Anegada, another part of the British Virgin Islands and had lunch at Cow Wreck Bar and Grill located on the island’s capital city, The Settlement.

NOTE 4: Necker Island is a 30-hectare (74-acre) island in the British Virgin Islands just north of Virgin Gorda. The island's land is entirely owned by Sir Richard Branson, chairman of the Virgin Group, and is part of the Virgin Limited Edition portfolio of luxury properties. The whole island operates as a resort and can accommodate up to 34 guests, with additional room for six children.

NOTE 5: Barack and Michelle were not seen boarding the same plane when they left Palm Springs. Although they were greeted together upon arrival in the Virgin Islands, it is not reported whether they arrived on the same plane.
