1. Research the top trending memes and analyze them.
Why are they the top?
Who is your target audience?
What is your tactic choice? Feed them outlandish disinfo so they look things up? Or straight up facts? maybe reverse psychology?
What types of image are they using? Is it a mix of words and images?
What type of emotion is it trying to invoke? Images and/or words
How much text is on it if any? (initial attention span is 2-3 seconds of judgement)
How big is the text?
Perception is everything, it has to "look good". People tend to not look at sloppy half/ assed stuff - they bypass it and go onto the next.
It HAS to grab their attn - shock value if that's what your going for.
Is there a similar colour scheme? Lighter images or dark
** Does it invoke enough emotion for them to react?
Find the commonalities then base the memes using the same guidelines, The audience has to connect to it either emotionally which is easier, or challenge them.
2. Clearly define your meme purposes with the same questions you used to analyze the top trending memos. Then gather the material that would BEST present your purpose - send out only the ones that hit it on the target.
Truths stick better when one discovers it themselves. That way they own it and no one can take that away from them. Make it seem like they found the answers while you ask the questions. One meme wont cut it for 1 purpose. You have to drop crumbs as we were given crumbs because it takes time (the process). Like a story, there is a beginning, middle and end (take action).
Same thing with a meme goal →
Meme layout:
1. The opening act - shock value (leave time for it to cycle and digest)
" 2. Crumbs to lead and add to the shock value. Facts/ or misinformed facts (again, time to digest/ process)
You can keep repeating #2 if you feel its not gaining traction, better to use another one with same intent. They need to get closer to an AHA! moment
"3. The "end" not really an end. Just the last process of the meme purpose. Bring 1 and 2 together while still asking another question and or include A-CALL-TO-ACTION line. You might not even need to do this final one - depends on a lot of factors like the audience has already connected it themselves, or the purpose of the meme isnt working out.
Timing of release is also key. You need to piggy back on another message that's out there or attach to current events/ discussions. There's a natural flow of information (trends) so don't swim too hard against the waters.
Hope that helps - just my 2 cents
