And that was not the Canonization Mass for the Popes. The address was about the Orthodox Church (attended in Turkey).

Looks like on the following Sunday, Pope was traveling outside of Rome.
The email referred to "this weekend", that is, the weekend of the week of 29 November 2014.
Could the writer, or the timestamp, of that email be out a week or so?
Earlier that year, John Podesta wrote that he had been in Rome to attend Canonization Mass for J23 and JP2 on 27 April 2014.
Pope gave his Homily that Sunday at which he oversaw the Canonization Mass of J23 and JP2.

It is possible, I suppose, that the email writer was confused about these masses. Canonization in April 2014, not November 2014.
